Biography
At the age of five she started violin lessons where she gained valuable knowledge on music theory and classical music. By the time she was 16 she was playing violin in a rock band in Arizona. While in the band she wrote a solo violin rock song that won her the Spirit Award in the America’s Junior Miss Finals competition. In 2010 Lindsey Stirling started to catch audiences’ attention with her performances on the television show “America’s Got Talent”. Although she did not win the competition for “America’s Got Talent”, she did catch the eye of cinematographer Devin Graham, who would later help her make music videos for her songs that would launch her career.
Devin and Lindsey started to film her music videos in 2011 and released “Spontaneous Me” as her first video. The video immediately gathered a following, which caused a continuation of filming music videos and releasing them on YouTube. Not before long Lindsey had millions of people interested in her music through her YouTube videos and has already had over 519 million views for her videos. In 2012 YouTube announced that her music video for “Crystallize” was the No. 8 most viewed video of the year with over 42 million views.
Lindsey Stirling released her self-titled debut album in 2012, which would go on to reach the No. 1 spot on the Billboard’s Classical Albums and Dance/Electronic Albums chart. The album was a massive success in Europe earning platinum certifications in places like Austria and Germany. The album was also well received by critics who enjoyed the unique combination of mixing in traditional classical music with modern sounds of hip-hop and dubstep.
In 2014 Lindsey Stirling released her second studio album “Shatter Me”. The album was met with great success and reached the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The album contained a more progressive style of music than her debut album, and it featured the hits “Beyond the Veil” and “Shatter Me”. The album also featured several collaborations with vocalists such as Lzzy Hale and Dia Frampton.
Lindsey Stirling has also released several cover songs that have caught mainstream attention. Her cover of the song “Radioactive” with Pentatonix was highly successful and won her the award for “Response of the Year” for the YouTube Music Awards. She is also well recognized for her cover songs of various video games and movie theme songs. Her collaborations with other musicians are also quite impressive, which show her teaming up with John Legend, Tay Monday, and Sam Tsui.
The touring schedule for Lindsey Stirling clearly conveys that she is a busy performer. She has been touring since the release of her debut album and has made appearances on some late night television shows to promote her music such as “Conan”. Her tours have taken her all over the world to such places like Japan, South Korea, and Switzerland. She has played a 21,000-seat Conference Center in Salt Lake City, US and has sold out numerous venues across the US. Lindsey Stirling’s strong work ethic and immense talent has clearly pushed her into stardom, and her creativity continues to be recognized through her many awards from such institutions as the Billboard Music Awards, German Echo Music Awards, and Streamy Awards.
Live reviews
It was awesome. First, the show started on time with A Great Big World and they had a really good vibe on stage, jumping and transmiting everything, and someting rare to happen: Lindsey came to support them and danced on stage in a picachu jumpsuit (she looked so cute!) in one of their songs, and came to perform at 'Say Something'. Then, she had a good background, a circle (like a portal), that transmited pieces of her videoclips of the songs she played. She did 2 songs acoustic, with no editing and you just see the talent she really is. And between songs, she would speak with us. The first time she was talking about where she had the idea of changing clothes in stage, and they were putting her pants and a shirt fluorescente for the next song, and she was super funny, 'Lady Gaga had a sexy change of clothes in stage. Isn't this sexy?" I could say so much about the concert, but it's hard to really understand when people aren't there. 1. She has a awesome atitude, in stage, off stage, between songs. 2. She's true. She has no problem being different and doesn't try to go on the same stream as other artists, because her talent and her personality is enough. 3. The show started on time, and Lindsey was... 1:30h on stage, jumping and talking and playing. Singers that only sing And do a little dance are only 1h on stage, so 1:30h doing all that? It's super. 4. Her show was simple, but not that 'meh, simple'. She didn't need many things on stage, only her background 'portal' and stage, 2 dancers and two high points in the stage, and she would rock her way through all the stage. SHE was the center of it all. You shattered my World, Lindsey Stirling :) It was really amazing to get to see you.
I had a father-daughter date with my incredibly beautiful and bright Sweet 16yo tonight at the Lindsey Stirling show. I remember, with my daughter, how bad Lindsey got rooked on AGT! Anyhow, last nights show was WAY MORE than I could have ever hoped for with my daughter. Strapped with 4 AP classes, presidents of several major school club, time is at a premium for her. But Lindsey truly made it worthwhile. Stirling selflessly shared her recent tragedy with the audience about Gavi, her best friend that recently lost his life. She publicly shared how God strengthened her journey and recovery and explained in detail how the album was written and also a very special tribute to Gavi via video. It was A remarkably open view into her world which was very rave and awesome for my daughter to hear and witness. Mostly though, Lindsey was incredibly inspirational. Sooooo inspirational, about her plight to stardom, the road blocks and hurdles. After the show I was able to share an incredible life lesson with my daughter. "Aim high. Aim Big." I couldn't imagine a better father daughter experience than this Lindsey Stirling show. TY Lindsey! Simply world class and outstanding. TM in Buford, GA
An unusual and unique show, Lindsey Stirling is an engaging performer to see live. A multi-instrumentalist who works particularly with her trusty violin, she has gained critical acclaim since the release of her self titled debut album in 2012.
Although it is her live show that has gained her global notoriety and her tours do not struggle to sell out now due to the evocative and enthusiastic manner in which Lindsey performs. She choreographs all of her own routines and integrates her accompanying musicians and stage layout and background too. Lively renditions of 'Electric Daisy Violin' and 'Mirror Haus' gets the crowd instantly clapping along with the musician.
She has a great mannerism with her audience and appreciates the brilliant interaction which they are giving to the show. A wonderful rendition of 'All Of Me' by John Legend with the dramatic violin notes evokes yet more huge cheers from the crowd. Lindsey's energy does not seem to waver throughout the whole evening and by the finale of 'Stars Align' the crowd are partly amazed she is still on her feet and thank her greatly by offering a standing ovation of their own.
I have heard of Lindsay Sterling only because I stumbled across one of her Youtube Videos a couple of years ago where she became widely popular and I was surprised at how much I enjoyed watching this beautiful woman play the violin.
Lindsay is known as the Hip Hop Violinist, but she can easily play just about any genre which is what makes her so talented, so be expected to hear some of your favorite songs in violin form. I wish I could find the words to describe seeing her live, it's another world and just simply amazing.
While she is on stage, she invites you to her world, the visuals of the performers mesmerize you as you watch and listen to her play. It's like being in a beautiful fairy would where everything is serene all the time. Everyone in the audience can do nothing but just sit back and enjoy the fun and when she starts to play Crystallize everyone gets so excited since this is one of the majority of her fans favorite. She is still currently on tour, so if you ever get the chance and she is playing at a venue near you, make it a must to attend. This is truly one experience you would enjoy from beginning to end.
This is the second time I’ve seen Lindsey live, and she is a consistently impeccable performer. Her shows make the audience feel a range of emotions - you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, and you’ll feel like you’re talking to a friend rather than a celebrity. The production value is always top notch, and she’s one of few performers I’ve seen who improve when watching live (though her recorded music is amazing in and of itself). I always will highly recommend her shows - they are my favorite concerts to go to and you can tell she truly puts thought into crafting each concert, and makes the audience feel important and seen. She talks to the crowd, has some fun comedy routines, and also gets real and talks about her personal life, all interspersed within her superbly performed music. The Christmas concert was especially fun because she did a range of dance genres (from ballroom to ballet), sang a few songs herself live (which she never does), and of course played the violin better than most people in classical orchestras. Overall, highly recommend.
Last year when Lindsey was at the Vogue, I had wanted to go but I slacked - forgot, and missed out. This year when she announced she'd be in Vancouver again - this time at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre - a friend and I just knew we HAD TO go.
The House was packed - most likely sold out - and it was the only show in Canada for the Music Box Tour. We waited in anticipation - sometimes it felt too long but it was worth any wait.
From her videos, you can tell she has an astounding level of energy and passion. On stage, she was fully engaged - rivaling the combined energy of all of her fans present.
Music was synced with lights which were synced with dance. She played various songs and between them (if a costume change was needed), a video and narration explained the story of the next song.
Each time, she makes an effort to do something new and to expand on what she can do, to push her limits, and to grow into the person.
All in all, it was an impressive show. Her prowess in her playing combined with her dance is amazing to watch.
ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE!!!! An amazing performance from the dancing violinist. Lindsey is incredibly talented both in terms of musicianship and dancing abilities, amongst other things. She even managed to perform magic tricks on stage... whilst still playing!!! Arguably one of the best shows I have ever been to (and that's a fair number of shows), she absolutely knocked me off my feet. The production was stunning, with visual effects, costumes, backing dancers the whole works and made for a truly breathtaking show. Lindsey herself also seemed to really enjoy being on stage performing for us, sharing some funny, emotional and heartfelt stories about her journey and experiences over the years, which only added to the performance. Coupling that with her seemingly endless list of talents made for an absolutely spectacular show. Best night out I've had in ages (and my partner is also now a big fan)! Can't wait to see her again!!!
A truly magical experience. Seeing her perform and dance and run around on video pails in comparison to seeing her on stage and hearing her violin along with the beat. I could feel my whole body shaking as her music filled the air, as I looked back on the lights glimmering across the superdome directly behind us, and hearing her perform with Any Lee and the rest if Evanescense was a whole other story. Amy's beautiful voice paired with that powerful playing of the violin wad honestly, one of the highlights of my life so far. She was so into it that she came down to Louisiana, and for lack of understanding that we can barely survive down here with one layer of clothing on, or maybe she was just trying to be cute idk, wore three layers of clotjing and so did her dancers. Her devotion and sound and everything about the performance made me smile the whole way through. Love ya Lindsey, hope I can see you in concert again soon <3
It was the first real concert of my life, I am 44 years old ^^. Lindsey remains the same, she is super generous, professional and authentic.
During my meeting in VIP Meet & Greet, I was so surprised to see it in real life that I could not get out of the word, my English being really mediocre, everything is stopped around me, I I did not even hear that Lindsey was talking to me.
It's con for me, I came to thank her for something too personal to talk about here, but who has changed my life. I could certainly tell her at the next concert whenever she return to Lille in France. But I do not regret having seen his concert and our meeting.
Another word for the organizers and security guards who were very professional and respectable, I am in a situation of handicapped, and I say a big thank you for helping me from my arrived at my departure, they are all formidable.
I never thought I'd be able to say that I felt the Holy Spirit at a dubstep concert! She is incredible! I was blown away. Sharing her testimony on stage was so brave, and it was powerful. She was funny, wise, real, and most of all: herself. Her music was amazing and her dancing performances stunning! Loved he lights, the song choices, the funny cutscenes, her little dog, and her love for what she's doing. Her stories about Gavi were touching, and the song and video she created for him were very moving. This is one of the best experiences I've had, and I'm so glad I got to go. Not only was it a great source of entertainment, I feel like I was uplifted and inspired by her. Next time I'm getting meet and greet tickets :D Keep it up Lindsey! Can't wait for more!! #LDS #dubstepviolin
