Biography
Born to a single parent family, Mineo had quite possibly the defining moment of his life during the summer before he started eighth grade. His older sister was working as a counsellor at a Christian camp that he decided to attend before returning to school, he converted after being exposed to the Gospel. However, after he returned to high school he started drifting away from his faith and dedicating more time to the other profound influence on his life, music. At first he engineered the recordings of others, using equipment that he installed in his bedroom and charging local musicians for the studio time. By 2001, however, he was recording his own songs with the help of friends of his from high school under the name C-Lite.
From then, Mineo’s career grew and grew by joining the group Fat Camp who eventually signed to Marshall Street Records. The group got some serious hype for themselves and released a debut album in 2006, but Mineo had other plans. He’d made a friend in the form of Alex Medina, a producer he met while still in contact. Through Medina, he discovered the urban evangelist group T.R.U.C.E, which reignited his faith in a big way. With a newfound clarity, he disbanded Fat Camp and set about dedicating his life and his rap career to Christ, his first release following his conversion being his 2009 mixtape “Sin Is Wack”. Ever since then he’s taken the much maligned idea of the Christian rapper and given it the best reputation it can get with his inspired rhymes and catchy chorus’. Back to performing under his birth name, and with a critically acclaimed debut album under his belt, Andy Mineo comes highly recommended.
Live reviews
Lordy, lordy we have here a God-sent purveyor of fine, lord-abiding hip-hop jams. Andy Mineo, who some may remember as C-Lite, the New York City-based MC, minister, producer, music video director, polymath-extraordinaire is set to blaze the country with rhythms and wisdom like the burning bush. He’s the glowing Christmas star of Christian rap, heralding the birth of great new age of music.
Before you haters start hating on Christian, take note: Andy Mineo is bona fine. He grew up in Syracuse, New York and kicked about with early underground scenesters Immortal Terchnique, Dead Prez and The Roots in the early days of hip-hop. He blends the real sound of the east coast with the messages of his chosen path.
He’s produced other luminaries in the Christian Rap field including Lecrae, Sheena Lee and Tedashii and self-produced his first EP, Sin is Wack (2009). His latest exodus, Heroes For Sale (2013) dips into a wide range of R&B grooves, hard-hitting dubstep and exotic funk hooks. His message, on the album and in his live shows is one railing against modern idolatry. We’re so wrapped up in false prophets we forget about the big man upstairs. Andy Mineo’s here to remind us.
Christianity and rap music appear to be at two completely different ends of a spectrum yet planted firmly in the centre of this is New York hip hop artist Andy Mineo. Although he has only released one album to date, his fanbase has multiplied at an alarming rate and he now plays to huge crowds who are all completely invested in the vibe.
Faith and music sit hand in hand as the focus of the shows and Andy speaks passionately between tracks about the influence of Christianity on his life and upbringing in New York. There are also great hip hop beats with heavy bass rumbling through the room in order to get the masses dancing along. The set is not excessively long yet everybody seems contented by the show and Andy has kept one final piece of his A game for a huge finale as he gets the whole crowd to rap along with him for 'He Will'. For those bored of conventional Christian music, Andy Mineo is definitely worth checking out.
Andy Mineo is a Christian rapper from New York who has a style somewhat like Kanye West. He brings a lot of energy to his shows. He interacts with the audience and has a pretty cool light and video production. His vocal delivery is exceptional. The venue was not the most conducive to a rap show (it was a theatre you'd go see Broadway shows at) but Andy kept every high and had people jumping and grooving the whole set.
I love the way Andy Mineo was so regular, meaning not being so famous!!! I was in awe how at the end of the show, he took time out to grab his fans cell phones and take selfies with them and the crowd! Andy...Nothing but God, True follower! Andy...I seen Jesus shine through and being exalted! 116 Unashamed Represent!

High-energy fun. The fans came out to celebrate the Friends and Family. The music was loud, the lights and effects were bright and the lyrics were on point. The addition of dynamic ASL interpreters to celebrate Deaf Awareness Week showed Andy's desire to be inclusive toward the dHH community.
The VIP experience was amazing for the Andy Mineo concert. I got to meet him, hear some of his new tracks coming out, and he did some free-style rap. The concert was amazing and better than I thought it was going to be. I would rate this concert a 10 out of 10.

Genuine guy and excellent entertainer along with the other artists that are in the lineup. This is the best show I've been to, with lots of funny interaction with fans as well as chest pounding bass. VIP experience is the way to go!
