Kerry Alexander is the primary songwriter who typically comes up with the basic song, then brings it to Chris Hoge and Noah Boswell who flesh it out. The lead track, 'Midway', makes a good A-side, and seems to be an intentional pop song. While the following track, 'Shame' is an indie rock jam. The title track, 'Psychic Reader' has good verses, but an amazing chorus which really stands out. And outshines Midway's chorus. Also, it leaves out the I chord.--Nick Indiessance
Spent a perfect Friday night with the bad bad hats! Music you can dance to, or sit back and enjoy. Wonderful banter by the lead singer. I wanted it to go on and on. There’s no logical reason as to why they are not huge—I’m sure they will be soon, so see them when it’s in intimate settings before they break out. Because they will. They’re awesome.
Heard their album and decided to check them out. They were great live! Since it was a small venue I got the opportunity to talk to them before and after the show, and they were really cool people. Catchy tunes, good energy, and goofy jokes in a Midwestern accent, what else could you ask for?
As is the case with any of their shows, they know how to work the audience. The drumming was impeccable, the bass was strong and Kerry Alexander's guitar and vocals carried the day. It was another great concert by Bad Bad Hats. 'Nuff said.
Great time at this one. Unlike some bands, they sound just like their releases. The lead singer Halley is cool and talented. She's great now, but I think she's got even more in her and it's ready to come out! I plan to see them again soon.
Amazing show and great band!! Very engaging with crowd and played a great show. Played a great balance of new music and “the hits”. Also nice to talk to them after the show. Can’t wait to see them again in NYC!
Lead singer was funny. Songs had range and depth. Went to the show cold. Left a fan. Will see again.
Backroom at Collectivo is Milwaukee's best venue for seeing an up and coming indie act.
