Killah Priest is a very cerebral artist. His beats are enough to draw a diverse crowd of listeners to his music, but upon further inspection, his lyrics are a message. On all his albums he has religious references, one of his main focuses being on the Bible and the African-American culture. His songs vary from pensive, to happy, to angry, and all are worth hearing. His music can be listened to on many levels, either just staying on the surface and bopping your head to the beat to repeating tracks to find out exactly what he's trying to convey.
I saw him perform back in 2010 and it was awesome. He was dressed in street clothes, as were the rest of his band, and the music spoke for itself. It was an awesome show with lighting effects and high energy. The crowd was enthusiastic for all the songs, really embracing the mood that Killah Priest was able to produce.
Their ability to keep the audience rapt for their entire set was statement enough to the quality of their product. Seeing them live adds the frenetic energy of other people enjoying the same music. It is awesome and something I hope to experience again.
