  • I've seen them twice in Detroit, and they are GREAT. Gotta see them live, they put out the effort and they look like they are having fun. Mike does connect with the audience very well, he works hard as the front man on stage. Airborne is a must see for any rock fan, great melodies with cerebral and clever lyrics yet they don't take themselves too seriously. They can touch on serious subjects without making the song heavy, they make clever FUN music. I have seen a fair amount of r&r shows, Bowie, Social D, Rush, Sisters of Mercy, Morrissey, Ramones, ACDC, Mudhoney, Pumpkins, Beach Boys, Thorogood, Asia, Brian Setzer, Black Keys etc, etc, and Airborne is near the top for live shows.

  • They were trying new material that needs a lot of work . the half hour of the show is why you would want to see them. Very disappointing. There was a few new songs that had some potential. Hope they figure it out

  • American indie rockers The Airborne Toxic Event have gained an almost cult-like status in the UK since their beginnings back in 2006. Their classic approach to rock and honest songwriting resonates with the British crowds and has seen their reputation improve dramatically over time.

Often playing to packed out venues around the country, the band confidently steps out onto stage in the capital to wall shaking cheers. The quintet takes to their respective instruments and begin to recreate a setlist taken from all three of their albums. Beginning with a string heavy version of 'All at Once' makes the crowd clap along purposefully. Mikel Jollett thanks his fans for their continued support and promises a night to remember.

The showcase of musicianship is astounding as each of the band members seem to have an expert command of their instruments despite having only played together for less than a decade. The vocalists melodically duet during the anthemic 'Sometime Around Midnight' while the audience also aid them as they chant along to the recognisable chorus. The Airborne Toxic Event show that to create an iconic status and gain huge following, the music really is the integral piece in the puzzle.
