The British trance DJ Simon Patterson is an incredible live performer, who I have been a massive fan of since way back in the early 2000s when he had a position selecting music for BBC radio 1. His career has come on leaps and bounds since those days, and just a few years ago he was ranked in the top 20 of the Top 100 DJs, as voted by DJ Magazine.
As he’s got so many different tracks, ranging from originals, to remixes, to covers under his belt, I wasn’t sure how he was going to pick a set list, but he seemed to select various singles, and then work through them chronologically. This was actually awesome for us in the audience, as we were able to see step by step how his music has adapted over the years.
He opened with the famous single F-16, and absolutely rocked it. He had everyone dancing, and whilst he was scratching away at the decks, he had a microphone he was using to encourage everyone to dance and sing along. The energy was buzzing from start to finish, and he had the audience in the palm of his hand. It was a pretty long set, and I think I was dancing for the full two hours. He absolutely rocked it, and his finale of Dissolve with the feature from Sarah Howells was the best end to a fantastic night.
