Welshly Arms is some fine white boy soul, I gotta tell ya. I saw Welshly Arms as one of several musical acts during the Stephen Kellogg Family BBQ weekend. I'm a bit late to the party with SK, but his earnest, from the heart approach to music unexpectedly pulled me in. But I'm getting off track here. When I saw Welshly Arms on the bill, I figured it would be more love songs about love, like SK and Jon McLaughlin. But Welshly Arms are completely different. Frontman Sam Getz really "brings it ", with a lot of energy. His raw, throaty vocals are surprising, and his guitar work is fluid, bluesy, and direct. Lots of soul, traces of Motown, Hendrix, and Jack White. Did Sam sell his soil to the devil? Maybe... I was very impressed with Welshly Arms. I bought their disc, they need more original material, but I've given their disc many spins, and it sounds great every time. Keep up the good work Welshly Arms, you made a new fan in me!
I went to the show at Scala which was a great venue, few minutes walk from St Pancras Station, good sized venue, whilst still feeling intimate, big stage and great sound. I went to see both Glorious Sons and Welshly Arms, The Sons we’re on first and were really good, great songs, a real good atmosphere, proper sing-a-long stuff and they interact with the crowd well. Welshly Arms were a great band, front man not only has a great voice, but a very talented guitarist as well, backing singers sounded great too. Such a great vibe, almost felt like I was in a gospel church at times, a real feel good gig, thoroughly enjoyed it.
Amazing band! Amazing live show. Such a talented and fun group of people. Initially saw this band not knowing anything about them. Now they are one of my favorites. Karen
