First saw Sunset Sons supporting Imagine Dragons at the Hydro last November. Impressed enough to pick up all their Eps the following day.
Then saw them headline in March of this year at Queens Margaret Union which wasn't a great night due to being delayed half an hour getting in due to the first support band running late in setting up. They ultimately played 3 songs before their time run out. Still don't know who they were but they put a serious dent in my mood for the night. 2nd support act Louis Berry got the night back on track and the Sons themselves put on a good show.
So when tickets came up for a show at the ABC in Glasgow we jumped at them.
Both support acts this time round were very good.
The bigger stage certainly suits the band. Superb from start to finish. The band certainly basked in the adoration of the crowd. At the previous QMU gig lead singer Rory had tried swapping t-shirts with someone in the crowd but the person had refused. Turns out the person was their again and had brought Rory a tshirt. It was a Goonies t-shirt. Pretty cool.
Comedy moment at the end of the night was Rory doing the worst crowd surf I've ever seen as my 15 year old son pointed out perhaps best not to chose the 5 foot 5 section of the crowd that's standing recording everything with their Iphones. Hearing him shouting "I'm going down" as he began sinking was hilarious.
Great gig from a band destined for great things.
After queuing for nearly 6 hours outside the O2 institute, I am glad to say that I was not disappointed by Sunset Sons and their amazing support act Louis Berry. Louis Berry was very excitable and got the crowd pumped up with his really cool songs, but Sunset Sons definitely stole the show!!! They played their much loved hits such as She Wants and Remember, as well as songs off their long awaited album Very Rarely Say Die. All four of the band members were great to look at and sounded perfect! Rory was very humble and thanked the crowd repeatedly, their encore was brilliant and meant that they didn't miss out any of their hits. I am really proud to say that I saw them in Birmingham!! They were note perfect and even better looking in real life, especially Jed (the drummer)!!! Do not miss out, definitely buy tickets to see them!!!
One of those bands who's recorded work can never truly represent the energy they delivery on stage. With a vocal that is perfectly suited for live performances and music that really benefits from a big sound system, these guys can't help but put on an infectious show. Catchy hooks, up-tempo beats and an enthusiastic crowd (some perhaps a little too so) made for a really good night all round. Catch these guys on tour if you get the chance.
Absolutely amazing concert! Loved you even more this time, saw you at Boardmasters thought you were great and now you topped yourselves well done lads! Can't wait to see you guys again! Love the new songs aswell especially "On the road"
