As Big Thief are possibly my favourite band right now I just had to see their lead guitarist's live set. The intimate venue, Gullivers, in Manchester city centre was the perfect setting. Buck's gig was moved forward 24 hours to the Saturday so the night was in effect a 2 for 1 event with The Weather Station also on the bill. He opened with Joe by the Book and immediately had the crowd's full attention which he maintained to the end. A very decent voice combined with his amazing guitar skills made the show an absolute treat. He seemed very comfortable chatting to audience members after the gig and I was impressed that he was able to step outside the comfort zone of a band to go it alone for a while. Catch him live if you can.
