See all your opportunities to see them live below! This concert began on a very interesting note because it took place in a Jewish synagogue ... . Nevertheless, it was spacious enough and the acoustics were quite adequate. The up & coming "Sam Willis" opened this jazz concert for the audience with tunes that reminded Me of the wonderfully playful, Bobby McFerrin ... the audience loved it! Next came the main event, Jordan Rakei. Jordan Rakei young band was absolutely OUTSTANDING! He played his hit tunes, "Eye To Eye", "Say Something", "Sorceress", "Mad World", etc. and had most of the audience in the Sixth & I Street Synagogue on its feet, dancing & clapping ... SELAH! In My opinion, Jordan Rakei is becoming a superior keyboard artist, has selected a superior drummer for his band, and also has an up & coming lead guitarist ...the world could certainly have a "new" STEELY DAN!
Unforgettable experience! Even though I am not particularly a big fan of an r-n-b influenced genre I am finding myself really drown to the stuff which Jordan Rakei is creating. Starting from the first EP's to a rather darker atmosphere of Wallflower album end more intricate, yet not difficult to digest tunes of the Origin. Phenomenal artistry, beautifully composed songs, great musicianship from both Jordan and his bandmates, fantastic light show - can hardly imagine how all of that could leave someone unsatisfied or unimpressed. Got really shocked by exquisite improvisations within a theme, modal changes and on top of that beautifully interweaved and performed vocal lines (sometimes interlocked with a piano or a synth). Extremely high level
Incredible songwriter and musician. Great performance on stage as well with his band. As I love the compositions it was beautiful and touching to hear them live but I would've wished for a bit more improvisation. But that's really just my opinion because I love improvisation.
If you dig Jordan Rakei's music, don't miss this guy live!
