Biography
What do you do after you become the face of one of the world's most popular genres of music? This was the question that faced Sven Hedfors (A.K.A Axwell) and Sebastian Ingrosso after their band, Swedish House Mafia, split in 2013. After headlining festivals and stadiums the world over, Steve Angello decided to leave the band in order to pursue a solo career, but his bandmates weren't so eager to let it end. A little over a year after the band that made them famous had come to an end, Swedish House Mafia's former manager started tweeting that lines to a new song by Axwell and Ingrosso had been hidden all over New York City, and once they had all been found, the duo announced that they would be headlining the Governer's Ball Music Festival in New York City the following June.
As it goes, it's a pretty impressive debut, you've got to admit. The band began to tour the world shortly after making their live debut at the Governer's Ball, playing packed arenas and festival fields from India to the United Kingdom. By 2015, the band had truly come into their own, releasing their first number one single on the Swedish charts in the form of “Sun Is Shining”. It might sound strange to dub a band whose members were previously playing in one of the world's biggest pop groups as merely “promising”, but Axwell and Ingrosso aren't merely good as a follow up to SHM, they're a great band in their own right, and they've got their best days ahead of them still. For that, they come highly recommended.
Live reviews
Although both Axwell and Sebastian Ingrosso have successful and celebrated solo careers, many claim that the Swedish duo make their best music when they come together. Anybody who has been present for their joint tours is likely to agree with this statement as the dual personality and frontman mentality pushes their high quality dance to new levels. As two thirds of the ever popular Swedish House Mafia, it is now the best way to see that act perform and there are a number of tracks included in the sets tonight including 'Antidote Control' and 'Miama 2 Ibiza'.
The crowd is going absolutely wild as the duo is playing international dance floor smashes at lightning speeds including Florence + the Machine's 'Spectrum' and John Newman's 'Love Me Again'. Tonight is primarily about their own impressive mixing abilities as well as a collective celebration of the music they created as Swedish House Mafia. Beneath a barrage of lights and metallic, reflective screens making the audience shimmer, the two begin the introduction to 'Don't You Worry Child' and the whole place simply erupts in euphoric elation.
