AMAZING.I go to a fair number of gigs and this is easily the best of the year so far!!
What a back catalogue of songs. Paul Heaton is a true legend of songwriter.
We had songs Paul hadn't played for almost 30 years and were treated to classics from The Housemartins:- Five Get Over Excited, Anxious, Caravan of Love and of course Happy Hour;
The Beautiful South:- Have Fun, Prettiest Eyes, Old Red Eyes Is Back, Rotterdam (Or Anywhere), I'll Sail This Ship Alone, Good as Gold (Stupid as Mud), Perfect 10, a brilliant reggae version of A Little Time, Don't Marry Her and to close off the night You Keep It All In during which we were showered with golden ticker tape.
Newer material from their 2 recent albums slotted in seamlessly - Wives 1,2&3, (Man Is) The Biggest Bitch of All, The Horse and Groom, Sundial In The Shade, The Queen of Soho, I Don't See Them , The Austerity of Love, D.I.Y and in Encore 2 Heatongrad.
Not sure why Paul kept his anorak on all night but he was great, even dancing like Southern Death Cult at one point.
Absolutely LOVED It. If you get chance to see them GO. You won't regret it.
Brilliant show sounded great, lovely venue, great weather too (bit of difficulty leaving the venue as too many people trying to get out altogether - Trinity should have had extra exits set up for end of the show to avoid the crush) overall great show chilled out very well organized event. Staff kept place lovely and clean & ques were well supervised and quick to move) Paul heaton & Jacqui Abbott put on a great show
Saw Paul and jacqui at sheffield City Hall This is the second time we have seen them at Sheffield what a brilliant show In fact the best show I have ever seen Seen Roy Orbison,the Everly Brothers and many other greats BUT paul and Jacqui in concert are the best Thanks for giving me and my wife the pleasure of seeing you again
Brilliant show. Packed house with great atmosphere and good special effects. Venue was wheelchair friendly which is something we take great store by and staff very friendly. Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott interacted well with the audience and we're backed by a superb band.
Unreal night. There voices are so well tuned. Both myself the wife were right at the stage. Been a massive fan since the Housemartins to the beautiful south. Oh them mod days. Cannot wait to see them again.
What a great gig from Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott at De Montfort Hall, Leicester - all of the classics! Rather than writing a review, hopefully my video sums up the gig well - https://youtu.be/auOnqUB3W3w
Absolutely outstanding concert. Very good venue, the acoustics were very good for an outdoor gig. Some great memories from the Housemartins days through to the beautiful south. Delighted i was there.
