Boo Seeka was one of my favourite gigs this year because I wanted to finally see them for so long and it was totally worth it to travel to Groningen.

Sam „Seeka“ was mostly hiding behind his electronic and percussion workstation, doing a marvellous job of layering the electronic background and the beats to the songs. Ben "Boo" went more towards the audience with his passionate performance: Soft, soulful voice, wild but focussed guitar playing, energetic moves, eye-catching looks...I loved it. Too short was their set, that’s about the only criticism I can think of.
The audience had to switch from the acoustic set of the duo that played before to the electronic style music of BooSeeka, and it took a few songs, but then they were clapping and dancing and singing even if they didn’t know the lyrics. (like me! I printed them out and read them five times in the car but still can’t remember.)
There were four songs that I have known and heard before and I think they were all very very successful in Australia. Kingdom Leader, Deception Bay, Fool and the latest one, Oh/My- they all creep into the deeper regions of the unconscious or whatever parts of the brain.
Makes me want to listen OVERANDOVERANDOVER again, trance set in as soon as I allowed it to happen. Repetitive yet unusual sounds, absolutely danceable but also nice to listen to in the car. (buy the CD!!!). In fact, I liked it so much that I'll probably go to one of their next gigs in Germany- I need to experience this again after listening to the CD a few hundred times now!
A great, albeit a bit short set!
Boo Seeka are definitely a crowd pleaser. Every song a hit, from their current hit single 'Oh My', to exotically-inspired 'Fool' had me and my friends dancing to a packed crowd at Jack Rabbit Slim's in Perth.
As my friend recalled, Boo (as we now affectionately call them :) were genuinely nice guys, even stopping off to mingle with the crowd after their set!
So glad I got to shake their hands. I'm now off to play their five-track EP, with the belief they have a successful career ahead of them.
In the words of Boo themselves, "Grab a hold! Take a leap and let go!!"
Being a Sydneysider, it was great to see local Australian musician here in London. The boys did such a great job, playing some classic tracks to their upcoming new tracks! Definitely see BOO SEEKA continuing to grow in the music industry! It was great night of good tunes, Cheers BOO SEEKA!
