when i tell you the show was absolutely wonderful, that is a massive understatement. jack cullen as an opening act was already jaw-dropping. his voice, his performance, his lyrics, it was a marvel to discover such talent. the crowd was silent, we were all quiet out of sheer awe. the cheers ensuing were almost deafening. we absolutely loved him.
then freya stepped out with "love is fire". she instantly captured the audience's attention. the floor was dead silent, people were hanging onto every word she sang. her playing was absolutely jaw-dropping, from acoustic guitar to piano. her voice was absolutely beautiful. i personally found myself tearing up at every song. the way she performed her own words and connected with both the songs and the audience... we were both feeling, we were both undergoing the same spectacle. it impacted me more than i could put into words. she was absolutely beautiful, too.
once we thought the show ended, the crowd began their deafening cheer. we continued for about 5 minutes, simply stunned by what we had just witnessed. freya came back and performed two more songs, including my personal favourite: "holy water". now, in this song, there is a part where she goes on to do several runs. in this part, she decided to engage the audience. she sang the same rhythm in 3 different pitches, and the audience slowly caught out. the musicians rocked out, the audience were vibing. i cannot recommend her enough, and i do sincerely hope she comes back soon.
I didn't really enjoy this concert at all! Considering we paid €30 she played for just over an hour which is really poor. I understand that she's only released one studio album but she could have at least sang some covers or a few songs she'd been working on. I found her performance quite boring to be honest, sitting behind a piano for most of it and she only stood up on stage once. She also kept on about her 'heart break between each song and that got tedious and showed on expressions of the band member's faces who looked bored!
Genuinely ADORE Freya Ridings. Her voice is stunning. Her look is stunning. I'm so glad she had a great showing. Everyone seemed to really enjoy the whole performance! Wishbone made me cry. Castles rocked the house! And of course Lost Without You is a staple. <3
My only regret was not being able to meet Miss Freya after the show! I would have LOVED that. She an incredibly talented individual and I can't wait to hear more from her!
PS the opening act, Raffaella was great as well.
Great chilled out feeling to the whole evening, she sold out the o2 and was genuinely chuffed to have done so. Jasmine Thompson was the support act and she did a great job of setting the mood with her excellent vocals. Freya mixed up the set with some all out hefty sounds and then stripped it right back with an acoustic set - her voice mixed with the cello was hauntingly beautiful.
That’s a night I’ll remember for a long time so thanks from me & my good lady wife.
Freya was as brilliant as expected but the venue was awful. Rudest audience I’ve ever experienced with loads of folks talking and shouting all the way through the performance. Entry was hopeless too, funnelling everyone who wasn’t on O2 priority through the 1 doorway to get in. Meant there was an enormous queue leaving folks out in the cold. Luckily it wasn’t raining.
Been going to gigs for over 40 years, first time I've walked out due to the audience being completely disinterested in the music and talking louder than the band. Why come to gig and talk and shout and mess about in your phone. Disrespectful of the artist. It seems majority of people came to listen to one song .
A brilliant show from a new talent. Superb musicianship from the band and Freya has a wonderful voice especially for such an intimate venue. Only down note was that it was a short set, I could have listened to more.
Well...sadly Freya did not perform that night. I'm not sure why and I never heard why. I was very disappointed in that I flew all the way to New Mexico from St. Louis to see her. She is one of my favorite artists!
