Taking their name from an old 17th century tale, singer-songwriter Peter Kingsbery formed 80’s pop-rock band Cock Robin completed by Anna LaCazio on lead vocals and keyboard, Clive Wright on guitar and Lou Molino III on percussion. Signing to CBS Records, in 1985 the band released their self-titled album which became a huge success in Europe with the singles ‘When Your Heart Is Weak’ and ‘The Promise You Made’ reaching the top spots in the charts. In 1987 the band dropped from four members to two leaving just Kingsbery and LaCazio to carry on the name. Their European appeal was ever more present as they released their second album ‘After Here Through Midland’ which went platinum in France. Releasing their most critically acclaimed album in 1989, ‘First Love/Last Rites’ continued success in Europe in particular France. Due to lack of promotion from their label, the band never managed to conquer their home territory. After touring Europe to promote the third album, Kingsbery and LaCazio went their separate ways, each embarking on solo careers. Fast forward fifteen years, Cock Robin made their return joined by Clive Wright to release their fourth album ‘I Don’t Want To Save the World’ and toured Europe, playing several sold out shows in France. Bringing back their synth infused sound, Kingsbery commands the stage with his sultry soothing and angelic vocals, with LaCazio accompanying on backing vocals. The crowd cheer, clapping along as the band dive into all their hits. Kingsbery appears so grateful that the crowd still even remember the words of the songs after all this time. Cock Robin are such an underrated and timeless band, long may they continue!
