Biography
Already his first release, the EP Kisskiss, and the following album Rough Cuts in 2004 provided him an immediate breakthrough in the international electronic music scene. His unique sound, his specific approach to music production and the unorthodox combination of musical genres soon made him the star of an uprising scene. With his subsequent albums Seven and Storm (2005), Shine (2007), Coco (2009), The Princess (2012), The Invisible Girl (Parov Stelar Trio, 2013), The Art of Sampling (2013), The Demon Diaries (2015), Live @ Pukkelpop (2016), The Burning Spider (2017), Voodoo Sonic - The Album (2020) and more than 20 EPs he was able to strengthen and even improve his status until today and he became the favorite of a huge fan community. Parov Stelar has been in heavy request for collaborations and as a remixer in all these years. He worked with Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga, Lana Del Rey, Lukas Graham, Marvin Gaye, Bryan Ferry, Klingande and many more.
Parov Stelar won 10 Amadeus Austrian Music Awards (7x Best Electronic/Dance, 2x Best Live Act and 1x Best Album). Next to various top chart positions in Europe the track The Sun in 2018 and the track Brass Devil in 2020 reached No. 1 in the electronic US iTunes charts. The song All Night reached Double Platinum for more than 100,000 tracks sold in Italy and Parov Stelar received Gold Awards for All Night in Germany and The Princess, The Art Of Sampling, The Demon Diaries and The Burning Spider in Austria.
Parov Stelar has 1 Million Facebook fans, more than 500 Million YouTube views and more than 500 Million Spotify plays. His tracks have been used on more than 700 compilations worldwide (e.g. Hotel Costes, Buddha Bar, ...) and have been used in numerous TV shows, TV series and movies. There are dozens of TV ads with his music e.g. Audi, Bacardi, Courvoisier, Colgate, Cosmopolitan, Escada, Fiat, Google, Microsoft, Motorola, Nespresso, Paco Rabanne, Target, Telecom Italia and Vodafone to name just a few.
After Parov Stelar devoted himself increasingly to his second great love, the visual arts, during the pandemic and presented a museum exhibition with 25 large-format paintings in his hometown of Linz in the summer of 2021, music is now being made again. From the art studio to the recording studio, on to the dance floor in the form of art and beats, Parov Stelar is an all-in-one king of art. He is currently working on a new album, which should see the light of day in March 2022. A first taste of it will be out in 2021 and the icing on the cake is a music documentary called Voodoo Sonic, which will also be released in 2021 and shows many new insights into the world of Parov Stelar.
Parov Stelar & Band played over 1000 live shows all around the world, e.g. sold out shows at PlayStation Theater in New York back to back, Alexandra Palace in London and Zenith in Paris. They played major festivals like Coachella, Glastonbury, Sziget, Lollapalooza, Pukkelpop, and many more. For the all new Venom Tour 2022, however, Parov Stelar has come up with something extraordinary and is - together with his band and crew - conceptualizing the biggest change in the Parov Stelar live show of the last 10 years with a completely new stage design and visual experience as well as many new songs, new arrangements, and a few surprises, all to be seen for the first time at the new tour in 2022.
Live reviews
The one at the Arena in Pula has been my third Parov Stelar concert in a couple of years and each time it's been well worth it.
The Burning Spider Tour features some new tracks arranged for the whole band (including the great brass section), always pumped up by Marcus's heavy beats, synths and electronic sounds.
The intro is just stunning, taken from the Babylon Berlin theme, Zu Asche, zu Staub, with deep beats and appropriate light effects, then Hit me like a Drum takes flight supported by Cleo Panther's lead vocals.
Some of his most well-known hits are played: you'll hear and dance to Catgroove, Booty Swing, Nosferatu, Josephine, All Night together with the newest tracks from his 2017 album (The Burning Spider, Step Two, Cuba Libre, Mama Talkin'). The summer leg of the 2018 tour saw also the guest appearance of Lee Anduze, a singer and songwriter from U.S. Virgin Islands, who cooperated with Stelar in many of his tracks and on tour he also duets with Cleo on Josephine and sings a solo version of The Invisible Girl.
The brass section composed by alto sax, trumpet and trombone is at the very spotlight of the show, proving it right and pleasant to mix jazzy melodies with techno/electronica grooves. All musicians are great professionals and during the shows have their own moment/moments of solo performances.
Eye-catching light effects and visuals are part of the show, perfectly in time with the music.
Parov Stelar gives a unique rendition of his music on stage, a one of a kind show of one and a half hour fun, energy, power, groove.
Highly recommended.
Parov Stelar yet again has proven the fact that European DJ's are the masters of music and Parov that of the dance genre! Parov Stelar famous for hits such as 'Matilda' and 'Fleur de Lillie' gave a stellar performance (see what i did there). With such great connectivity with the audience, speaking on many occasions and building up the right atmosphere for each song, good vibes encircled the dance floor. I consistently found myself shuffling to each song, only being stopped by the build up to the energetic drops that are the life of his songs! Alongside the band, there is nothing the Austrian artist could not do! The crowd remained engaged at all times possibly due to the fact that the atmosphere upon stage was so coordinated. Lights would change colours according to drum beats and even going crazy at one point where the saxophone player was given an improvised solo. The female vocals were crystal clear and just added so much more charisma to the pulsing beat and distorted bass that became the heart beat of the venue! Hands remained raised in the air shaking and aimed towards the band, as if a zombie apocalypse had spread through the audience we were all doing the same thing, moving in such unity and collaboration as if we shared one mind. The music had connected us and we did not even know it!
If you are a fan of simply having a good time, then Parov Stelar and band are the artists for you!
Austrian musician Parov Stelar, real name Marcus Füreder is known for merging the modern genres of electro and dance with the far more traditional swing. Dressed in his best evening tux, his stage operation includes brass musicians, a guitarist and a fantastic vocalist that he conducts through his own unique beats.
The crowd is enthusiastic and open to the unusual merging of sounds and remain responsive to Stelar's vocalist who acts as a compere of sorts for the evening while the man himself concentrates on mixing records. He samples old tracks in the likes of 'The Phantom' and these sound brilliant when brought into the modern day with shining production values. Swing is the original genre to make people dance so when put to pulsating beats it is no wonder that the crowd moves throughout and cheers as one for 'Booty Swing'. The exhaustive setlist does not drop pace and the musicians supporting Parov are equally enthusiastic so by the final bows following 'On My Way' both performers and fans are equally contented with the show.
Parov Stelar is the stage name of Austrian producer and DJ Marcus Füreder. Parov Stelar has been in the music industry since the late 90s, really starting his career in 1998 after working on the club circuits for a few years. The DJ and producer is a testament to the fact that European DJs really do seem to be the next big thing in music. The Austrian born artist is famous for hits such as ‘Matilda’, ‘Coco’, ‘Fleur de Lillie’ and ‘The Princess’. These were amongst the monumental list of songs that Parov Stelar performed in front of thousands as I stood amongst the excited crowd and let the pumping energy of his music wash over me. The accompanying band, playing everything from drums to the saxophone, were on fire all night and even had a few solos of their own. Stelar was brilliant at getting the crowd energised and pumped: he stirred us all into a frenzy with his electronic beats and accompanied these with a brilliant if hectic light show that really added to the whole performance.
Parov Stelar is an amazing dj who knows how to put on an amazing show. He is very active with the audience and keeps them entertained throughout his set.
I had the chance to see him perform while I was attending a music festival. I was really excited to see another band that was performing, but Parov ended up being the highlight of the night for me.
He started his set with slow but thumping beats and it gradually grew in to a huge climax. It had everyone in the audience jumping up and down and dancing all over the place. It was nonstop with the beats. It was amazing.
Everyone in the audience fed off of the music and it was a nice pick me up after being at the festival all day.
If I ever had another chance to see him, I would jump all over it.
Dauken hoch also für Parov Stelar
Die Sporthalle Hamburg ist für diese Art von Konzert genau richtig.
Gerne wieder!
concert was great! I really enjoyed! Group interacted with audiences and you could feel that we are all United. in fact I would like to hear 2 more songs at the end that will be great surprise because I enjoyed so much that time flu so fast and suddenly was the end:(
place was great.all artists played fantastic
The show was amazing, beautiful screen effects and the musicians were top level. Cleo's voice and dancing movements kept the audience amused. The only annoying thing was the hours waiting until Parov Stelar showed on stage. There was a huge gap between the first supporting DJ until the band came on stage.
The show was spectacular!! We started dancing from the get go and didn’t stop til the end. There was something in there for everyone: flamenco flare, naughties vibes and a touch of 80s Eurythmics. So good I wish we were going to it again tonight.
