At 26, Ana Carla Maza paints with her cello the mad luxuriance of her native Havana, the samba accents of Brazil, the tragedies of Argentine tango... A second disc like a tornado of life.
Born in Cuba, during the period when Wim Wenders recorded Buena Vista Social Club, Ana Carla Maza, singer and virtuoso cellist, took her first steps on stage at the age of ten and then continued to evolve internationally.
After the success of her solo album La Flor, Ana Carla Maza signs the compositions for quartet and solo for her new album, a tribute to the Bahia district of Havana where she spent her early childhood. Ana Carla Maza comes from a family intensely linked to music and travel. Her grandfather fled the Pinochet dictatorship and settled in France in the early 80s. Music has always been present in her life and Ana Carla was almost born with a cello in her arms!
Ana Carla Maza creates an open musical universe combining jazz, classical music and colors of Latin America. Cuban and Brazilian sounds are honored in Bahia, where rhythms such as Tango, Huayno, Son Cubain or Bossa Nova come together to draw a world of sensitivity and hope.
