Perry Farrell

I had seen Perry Farrell play with Jane's Addiction many times over the years as well as with Porno for Pyros, so when the chance came to see him perform alone, well, not alone of course he had a band, but not Jane's or Porno, I was stupid excited! More than anything I was curious what it would be like? Would it be a different Perry than I was used to seeing with the other two bands, or would it be pretty much the same, just with different band members. Well the tickets finally went on sale and some friends of mine and I bought our tickets.

He was playing in a local club, medium sized and I was really excited about that, because I had always only seen him play in larger stadiums etc... And was happy to have a more close up intimate experience!

We arrived at the club and worked our way into the middle of the crowd. It was very crowded, probably around 7000, which made the club almost overflowing with people. For this show, he probably should of been in a larger venue, but I was happy he wasn't.

The lights went dim and the energy went high! Perry came out on stage with a bottle of red wine in his hand, very typical Perry and talked about all sorts of crazy things for a few minutes and then the first song started!

His new material was great and I had heard most of it, and they performed it well, but I have to say that it wasn't the same as with Jane's and Porno, it was a bit more mellow and deep. Not that, that's a bad thing, but on the album the songs had a bit more edge to them and in the live performance they were deep.

It was a great show over all, Perry is one amazing entertainer on stage, and knows how to be weird, and weird is good!
