I fell in love with Jason Castro when he was on American Idol so when I found out he was going to be at the Ark in Ann Arbor I ran, literally, to get tickets. I could not miss this beautiful dread-lock man in person. The crowd acted as I did when he came on stage, like little teenage girls, but how could we not.
Jason has a voice that is so pure and true, it's the kind of voice that doesn't come around often. The concert felt super personal, which is exactly what I expected because that's how I have seen him perform on TV. It's the stage, the band and Jason.
Then again he doesn't need anything else, his voice is captivating all by itself. He could sing the alphabet and I'd be sold, and nothing in this world can compete with him singing Hallelujah in person. I am not a religious person at all but when he sings this song it rips through your soul. I would go to a concert anytime just to see him sing this one and only song.
It is an experience that can only be understood once you have experienced it. His voice is a gift, he stage performance is natural and he is a true gem.
