Biography
Since the age of twelve, Dana was involved in the production of music; after moving to the small rural town of Wildwood, Florida US in 1988, she sang in public with the First Baptist Gospel Choir in her early teens and lead a local band in her new hometown. The talented Fuchs then migrated to New York after high school and joined forces with the credibly acclaimed guitarist Jon Diamond who had toured with artists such as the chart-topping Joan Osborne beforehand. Together Fuchs and Diamond combined to form a duo titled the Dana Fuchs Band.
The band gained a loyal following whilst performing numerous gigs in the bars and clubs of New York City US, selling out shows at the Stephen Talkhouse, BB King’s and the Mercury Lounge alongside widely recognized artists like Marianne Faithfull and Etta James. They released their debut CD ‘Lonely For a Lifetime’ in 2003, which consisted of tracks that Dana Fuchs claimed “dealt with subjects that I have a deep personal experience with”.
Fuchs issued the album ‘Live in NYC’ on Antler Kind Records on April 1, 2008, and toured with Ray Davies and Dickey Betts, before the Dana Fuchs band released its second studio album ‘Love to Beg’ on April 13, 2011. It achieved international recognition and warranted the UK’s Classic Rock awarding it ‘Blues Album of the Month’. Dana Fuchs, with the backing of her fellow band member Jon Diamond, released ‘Bliss Avenue’ on Ruf Records on July 9, 2013 to a positive reception.
Influenced by the record collection of her parents - Ray Charles and Hank Williams - Dana is often touted as the new Janis Joplin, and has entertained crowds at prestigious settings such as Stage 48 NYC and Highline Ballroom NYC. Fuchs has also her adapted her musical talents to film; she took the role of Sadie in the movie Across the Universe, performing numerous covers of the Beatles songs.
Live reviews
Dana Fuchs. Going to one of her shows is something you won't experience anytime soon again in today's music industry. She calls her shows the 'Rock 'n Roll Church of Love and Bliss' and she preaches compassion, love and being f*cking nice to eachother.
She's compared to Janis Joplin, Beth Hart and Robert Plant and eventhough there are similarities, they don't do her justice. That is why she refuses to do Janis-covers during her shows - she headlined 'Love, Janis' years ago - because she wants the audience to get to know Dana first. Her mix of blues, rock and even a bit of country from time to time will give you night to remember, and she's backed up by a killer band. They are all professionals and the best at what they do.
Go see her when she's playing near you, probably at an intimate venue where you can experience the show up close and personal. And afterwards, don't forget to go to the merch-stand because she will be there for photos, autographs, hugs and kisses! Don't hesitate if it's a 'long drive', it's worth it. I've seen her play about 18 times now and never been disappointed. She's lived a hard life and you can tell by listening to her songs, but she's also all about hope, looking forward and celebrating life together. So yeah, if you find yourself in doubt whether or not you should go, then just go. That's how I first went and could not believe what was happening on that stage. I was completely blown away and went to a 2nd show the next day.
Since then I've seen her and her band play all over the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark. I honestly could go on and on about this for hours, but I'll stop now. If I still haven't convinced you by now, you're a lost cause ;) If I did convince you: have fun, be prepared to be blown away and to be wanting more and more of her live show and that awesome energy.

Dana Fuchs is an incredible vocalist and songwriter who gigs all over Europe and the US with her band. When this gig was announced I didn't hesitate to get tickets and arrange overnight accommodation as it is a 660 mile round trip for me.
I could rave, but instead will just say it was totally worth the journey and that given the chance I would do it again. A great band, great vocalist, excellent songs all delivered with great passion.
Do yourself a favour. Give them a listen, please!
She was great. She belts it out like Joplin. A bit of Gospel..country.blues.folk. she puts her heart and soul into her songs.she explained each song before singing.
Such a talent and a very pretty girl .
I cried when she sang of her holding her Mother s hand as she took her last breath. I had just lost my Mom and missed out on that closure.

Great sensitivity combined with rock and roll and served with great passion and love.
One of my best concert experiences for a long time.
I had the opportunity to buy the latest CD, and a T-shirt after the show, and I also thanked Dana and Jon for the show.
She couldn't make due to scheduling conflict but I'm sure she would have been absolutely amazing! I went to her show, my first time see he her, at the Iridium lounge. I was right up front and she was so engaging full of energy and just a real down to earth sweet person. Hope I can make it to her next show.
