The Bamboos

Melbourne’s own Funk & Soul powerhouse return to the stage for a series of special shows every Thursday in October at The Night Cat in Fitzroy.

Each night of the residency will be an unmissable, uniquely themed set - giving the band a rare chance to feature deep cuts from their extensive back catalogue as they debut their newly expanded 11-piece line up, including two backing vocalists.

The theme for each weeks sets will be revealed on the Friday before.

The Night Cat holds a special place in The Bamboos history, as they played their first ever shows there back in 2000. Guitarist and founder Lance Ferguson recalls: “I had the idea to put a band together that was inspired by a more stripped-back, raw approach to Funk. At the same time (Melbourne Music legend) Henry Maas approached me for a season of gigs at his venue The Night Cat, and so The Bamboos were born...I always call it our spiritual home”.
