Got a chance to see DataRock perform at the Canal Street Festival, and I was totally blown away. They performed "The Pretender", and even for an outdoor set, the volume was immensely loud. I love their red jumpsuits; it's their signature and it works for them. I wish I'd worn red so I could have matched them!
The crowd was really pumped. We were all bouncing around as they performed, and it was really cute to see little kids jamming to the music. They have a unique sound that I like, and I think the drummer has awesome skills. They don't do a whole lot of running around the stage like a lot of the other bands I've seen, but that's okay. It's totally fitting for them, and I actually enjoyed watching them even more because they were so focused on their music and delivering to the crowd. There was a misty smoke coming from the stage that kind of added to the show, but I would have liked to see more, or maybe even something that was projected into the audience. Overall, it was a memorable time, the music was good, and I'm glad I could see them perform one of my favorite songs live.
