Co-headline with TV Smith celebrating 50 Years Of Punk
A good night in Nottingham to be had by all,, Tom played the old as well as his new album..All very good but feel the venue (rescue rooms) did want it over and done with as quick as possible... ended up outside for meet and greet afterwards!!!
Attending a TV Smith gig is like a Pilgrimage to the promised land, last nights performance was full of the venom.anger and passion we have come to expect from the former Adverts front man.
The evening kicked off with support act The Featherz ,a Trio comprising of a male drummer and possibly two of the naughtiest girls ever to tread the Railway Hotels stage, love the rapport with the audience if not the colourful sexual banter !
TV Smith accompanied only by his Acoustic guitar launches into his set with an assortment of songs taken from his numerous albums and nicely peppered with Adverts classics,i have followed TV from the start of his Punk heyday with the Adverts, through the TV Smiths Explorers period but lost touch with his progress a bit after that but the quality of his songwriting always persists.
Whilst i understand gigging on his own is the the only practical way of touring, what his songs and performance are crying out for is a band of three or four musicians to emphasize TV's brilliant talent.
TV likes to introduce the songs to his audience to highlight the message behind the lyrics and i loved his festive offering of 'Christmas bloody Christmas '!
TV ends with the song that kicked off his recording career the glorious 'One Chord Wonders',TV Smith is the perfect antidote to the Simon Cowell generation, catch him soon. D.Chivers
