Lucy Kaplansky is a Chicago born folk musician. Originally from Chicago, at the age of 18 she moved to New York City, and found her love for the genre in the city’s Greenwich Village folk music scene. Years on, her routes are still obvious in her organic, rich folk sounds and expert control of her guitar and distinct vocal stylings. Despite her life taking a different path after she pursued a degree and career in psychology during the 80's, music called her back in the 90's and thankfully for fans she's never looked back, releasing solid albums every few years for the past twenty years.
A confident performer onstage, supported by a tight backing band, Kaplansky leads her musicians with guitar bared like a knight's sword. She often performs mixtures of her own works with her notable soothing tones along with covers of other famous folk singers such as James Keelaghan. Fans of the genre are always guaranteed a treat at Lucy's concerts as you are offered a smorgasbord of folk selections from varying artists and decades.
A very humble performer, Lucy's delightful tones captivate the crowd before she mutters a small thank you at the end of each song. The singer will be touring the US for the remainder of 2014 before hopping over the Atlantic to treat her UK fans to a selection of dates at the beginning of 2015, tickets are available now.
