Originally the solo project of Somerset based Bruce Soord, The Pineapple Thief's origins lie in their first release, 1999's 'Abducting The Unicorn'. Now fifteen years later and nine albums stronger, the quartet continue to tour Europe playing selections of classics to their loyal fan base. Setting out across Europe before three homecoming dates back in the UK, the band are currently supporting the release of new album 'Magnolia'.
A really enjoyable live act to see perform, the band have a brilliant sense of humour often sharing stories of shows past and their interesting progression in the music world. Their indie/rock sound has been perfected over the years and all musicians play with precision at every show, performing tight instrumental and huge riffs found on the likes of 'Wake Up Dead'. Moody spotlights frantically light each member intermittently on 'Build A World' which adds to tension as this brooding track build to a great rock crescendo.
The boys save their A weapon for closing track, 2010's 'Nothing At Best' where Soord wails the painful lyrics and the crowd applaud and cheer as the riffs build, followed by waves of percussion as it feels like the band want to drag this track on forever and stay in the moment with their fans. A talented, pioneer of indie rock with a very strong back catalogue to mould a live show around.
