Sharon Katz And The Peace Train

Back by popular demand in the Philadelphia area, Sharon Katz & The Peace Train take the stage at 118 North on August 9th. Sharon Katz founded the band in South Africa in the nineties and the USA band has played Joe's Pub in NYC, Philadelphia Folk Festival, New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and international festivals in Mexico, South Africa and world wide. Katz is known for her ground breaking Peace Train tours which involve hundreds of performers and dynamic bands performing global music firmly rooted in South African music styles. This line up includes Sharon Katz on guitar and vocals, Wendy Quick on vocals, Suzzette Ortiz on keyboards; Jan Jeffries on percussion and RIchard Hill on bass. Most recently Sharon Katz & The Peace Train performed at Cumbre Tajin Festival in Veracruz, Mexico. The band is well known for their ground breaking "Peace Train" tours acorss South Africa, including several performances for Nelson Mandela.
