Kate Rusby is one of the biggest names in acoustic and folk music. She is sometimes hailed as The Barnsley Nightingale. Rusby is one of those singer songwriters that has so many accolades to her name having headlined numerous British National folk festivals to date. She opens with her song “Underneath the Stars”, a beautiful song that has this whole audience completely quiet making way for the beautiful harmonies to shine through. Tonight she is promoting her Ghost album that comes out later this year but of course she blasts through so many of her biggest singles to date, with songs such as “All Over Again” which featured vocals from Ronan Keating on the original, “You Belong to Me” which was on the album “The Girl Who Couldn’t Fly”. Her voice is pretty and delicate, with quite a textured sound, adding some beautiful melodies to the chords that she plays on her guitar. Her finger picking technique is a very endearing feature of her songs too.
