Vocalist and composer Jacqui Naylor returns to SFJAZZ with her all-star band from New York City. The shows come on the heels of the singer's recent sold-out shows in Europe, Canada, Asia, and the United States. With twelve albums and a dedicated following around the world, Naylor is known for her deeply rich, soulful voice, wide vocal range, and signature arrangements of standards, covers, and original music. The singer attributes her unique sound to tight and spontaneous interplay with talented bandmates. What Naylor and her band create on stage together is both sensitive and explosive!
Naylor performs two shows each night of her residency, featuring music from her recent album and throughout her illustrious career. Naylor’s albums have made exclusive "top-ten" lists and her music featured in ad campaigns, television shows, and films, including a documentary made about her. She also gained notoriety for arrangements of jazz standards sung over the grooves of classic rock songs and vice versa. “Naylor has the chops and sensitivity to pull it off,” writes New York Times Magazine.
Naylor has headlined at many of the world’s finest jazz clubs and festivals. These include SFJAZZ, Ronnie Scott’s London, Sunset-Sunside Paris, Birdland New York, Monterey Jazz Festival, Jazz Aspen Snowmass, Women in Jazz Halle, Quasimodo Berlin, and Blue Note Jazz Clubs Worldwide New York, Tokyo, and Milan, to name a few.
