Went to see Ghost note in October '24 in Vredenburg, Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Based on their latest album I suppose my expectations were too high. As tight and virtuous the band is on the album, as sloppy was it in concert.
I wonder if the musicians even were the same as on the album, at least the lead guitarist and bass player (the latter was way too loud; see below) were just OK. Drums and Rhythm were pretty good, particularly in solos. Overall, it just didn't really gel.
None of this was helped by really poor mixing, bass was way too loud and overbearing, masking much of the more subtle instruments. At times I could see a trumpet player playing but wasn't to be heard until the idiot behind the desk discovered the fader.
already in the first song we had to clap, hands in the air, the dreaded public participation. I don't mind really, but earn it, build it during the concert.
Lastly, no encore. The band played their plalylist and buggered off at the end. Fine by me, halfway through the concert I was already musing about leaving the concert.
