From BIRDfest to their first headline show at LantarenVenster Rotterdam, corto.alto returns on 14 October.

Presented by BIRD x LantarenVenster, the Glasgow-based collective led by Liam Shortall brings its explosive live show back to the city after making waves at BIRDfest and North Sea Jazz.

Something has been brewing in Glasgow for years. Between rain, clubs and rehearsal spaces, corto.alto built a sound where jazz, broken beat, soul and electronics collide. Think the energy of Ezra Collective, the grooves of Yussef Dayesand the warmth of Hiatus Kaiyote, wrapped in a raw Glasgow edge.

At the center is Liam Shortall, switching effortlessly between trombone, bass, guitar and keys while the band moves through deep grooves, subtle tempo changes and unexpected turns. Their debut album Bad With Names immediately put corto.alto on the map, earning support from tastemakers like Gilles Peterson.

After North Sea Jazz 2024 and BIRDfest, corto.alto is ready for his next Rotterdam chapter.
