Pigeon John has always been a bit different. A young skater growing up in Inglewood CA, he always felt out of place. But it’s the feeling of being an outsider that gives John’s music its edge. He casts aside typical Hip Hop notions instead giving his own take on the genre, both through his music and his performance. It’s easy to see the skater in him come out when he takes to the stage with a punk energy, backed by live instrumentations which help to instil that sense of subversion. He dares the crowd to keep up with him and match his energy and they often do, erupting with a furious charge during his hit ‘The Bomb’.
It can be hard for anyone to do something different in Hip Hop and even harder to carry that same energy into a live show but Pigeon John excels on both counts. He gives new crowds something they can’t ignore and is so unique that it will have them hurrying to uncover his records to learn his songs for the next time they see him.
