His debut in 1997 as a studio vocalist on “Bachatazos” series helped him to become one of the most recognized Bachata singers of his generation thanks to his work in the duo Monchy & Alexandra.
Monchy was surrounded by music from an early age. There was a true melting pot of music he heard on the radio and from his father's collection of Vinyls in his youth; But, it was the Ballad-Pop and Bolero songs that truly caught his attention and got astonished by these music styles. He studied music (piano, guitar and vocals techniques) during his schooling; In addition, he started singing and playing with local bands in his hometown at the age of sixteen at pubs, scholar, and family events.
When Monchy reached adulthood, he decided to start his musical journey and moved to the touristic area in the East region in his country. He managed to polish his talent as a singer and guitar player in various musical groups providing entertainment to the tourists who visit the area.
In 1997 the renowned Bachata producer Mártires De León introduced Monchy to participate in numerous compilations called "Bachatazos" as Studio vocalist. A year later is when his voice is massively heard in the Bachata version of "Hoja En Blanco", a song popularly known as "Vuela Vuela”, meaning for him the beginning of a productive decade as a performer taking part in the most successful duet of Bachata rhythm.
After a decade full of international awards, concerts in three continents and millions of copies sold of four studio albums, Monchy started his own journey releasing his first solo Bachata proposal titled “Primogénito”. Monchy has established a highly credible resume in the Latin Music scene; Undoubtedly, he’s been one of the Bachata music's most esteemed musical ambassadors.
