Marshall Crenshaw is an American musician, singer and songwriter best known for his song "Someday, Someway", a Top 40 hit in 1982. This song he plays at every single one of his concerts which are wonderful to witness live and in person.
There is a distinct Buddy Holly feel when you are in concert as well as knowing that he feels his roots lie at the intersection of classic soul music, British Invasion songcraft, Burt Bacharach and Buddy Holly of course. Crenshaw has an amazing stage persona, almost always wearing a black hat, matching tshirt, and cool tailored jeans with his guitar and microphone of course, so you can see the relationship with Buddy Holly.
He plays solely from his ten studio albums, which can be disappointing if it were another artist, but since his sound is so unique and diverse, this does not matter. He is so popular that many have made covers of his song, so you may be surprised to know that he wrote certain songs such as “Brand New Lover” and “Communication.”
