Farris has gone loud rock. Cut his hair, cut his band (no Roseland Review, no horns), and added volume. Same powerful voice, but new four piece band with him on rhythm, Bart Walker on lead, plus bass + drums (sorry, did not get names, but both solid). Bart Walker exploded on guitar, with spectacular lead work that outshined any side work I’ve seen from him before. Great show for guitar players, but traditional Farris audience was shocked, and most were blown out, not blown away. He tried to stay connected to his past with some audience sing along, but it fell flat with a small crowd and the overpowering rock style. Take your earplugs, drop your expectations if you’ve seen him before, and open your mind. There’s a new Farris in town...and he’s armed with volume and aiming for a new audience. Time will tell.
