Opera Holland Park bring Will Todd and David Simpatico's enchanting musical retelling of A Christmas Carol to the Stroud Arts Festival.

Scored for eight singers, a trio of piano, double bass and accordion, and narrator, Todd weaves the melodies of traditional Victorian carols and the midwinter chimes of handbells through each episode of Charles Dickens’s seasonal ghost story.

In a libretto drawn by David Simpatico from the much-loved 1848 novella, we meet Ebenezer Scrooge, the ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future, and the family and friends whose kindness Scrooge has hardened his heart against, only to understand by their example the meaning of Christmas.

A spooky and salutary story for all ages from Opera Holland Park, with a festive happy ending.
