Used to the dryness and apparent serenity shown in youtube videos, I was really surprised by the cheerfulness and energy they transmitted as individuals and as a band, keeping up at the same time with an impecable live performance. Jessica and her hipnotic feet movement, her ups and downs, dancing with a guitar, feeling. Andy being a skin and bones metronome, and Anna, creating atmospheres from the back.
Playing most songs from their newest album (Eight Houses) and some from their previous compositions, they mastered their songs from the roars of Jessica's overdriven amp, to stripped-down percussion+voice only songs. Being their first time at Barcelona, their connection with the public was more than good. They showed their true self, no additives, they made people laugh, want more, listen. As well, they were able to overcome a mid-song broken amp problem with complete professionality, being this one of the anecdotes that make a live performance special.
In conclusion, the concert given yesterday night by She Keeps Bees
in Barcelona was amazing.
