Jack Ingram was one of the first artists signed to Big Machine Records, the label behind singer songwriter, Taylor Swift. I mean, this guy has seriously had a good career thus far with his two awards that he won his 2007 at the CMT music Award for Wide Open Country Video of the Year and an Academy of Country Music Top New Male Vocalist Award. He has a fantastic fan base who have been with him for nearly two decades and tonight they are queuing up outside this huge venue tonight, eventually pouring in, some heading to the merchandise stand and others heading to the bar for a pint of beer. Ingram immediately strikes me as a humble guy who has paid his dues over the years with his career thus far and has worked extremely hard to get to where he is right now. He opens with the huge “Wherever You Are” the song that reached number one in the U.S Country charts. Tonight he is still touring his album “Big Dreams & High Hopes”, a little cheesy admittedly but laden with hits might I add. He started to sing “Free” which has one of those choruses that people just couldn’t resist singing along to at the top of their lungs. He closes the set with a stripped back acoustic version of “Seeing Stars”, which originally feature Patty Griffin on the album.
We missed the Jack Ingram set. But we caught the Los Lobos set. Which was outstanding. Most underrated band in the business. The best moment was a cover of Sir Douglas Quintets "She's about a Mover". Jack Ingram joined in for the chorus. #epic.
Excellent venue, excellent show. He told back stories and talked to the audience. Great music. Stayed after the show to meet with crowd. Highly recommend if you have the chance to see him.
