Owen grew up in Winter Haven Florida with his twin brother Jarrod. Both brothers took an avid interest in a variety sports in their youth. However, when Jake was involved in a Wakeboarding accident that required reconstructive surgery, he ended up playing around on a neighbours guitar and before long was playing gigs in a local bar.
Owen was signed after moving the Nashville, Tennessee, as he began his new life in the south, he went to open a bank account and passed on one of his CDs to a bank clerk, who liked it so much, she sent it to a Warner Music Group. Hs country career was born.
In 2006, Owen released his debut single, “Yee-Haw”. The party tempo track was a success, making its way up to number 16 on the charts, and it lead to the release of his first full length release, “Startin' With Me”, which was a top ten hit in the country chart.
Three years later in 2009, Jake Owen returned with his follow up effort, “Easy Does It”, which was another charts success for the country star. The same year, Owen received the ACM award for Top Male New Vocalist. Owen’s third album “Barefoot Blue Jean Night” was a huge success for the singer, with the first two singles both debuting at number one on the Billboard Country charts.
Jake Owen has toured around the US, opening for other country acts such as Carrie Underwood, Brad Paisley and Keith Urban. In 2012, he famously proposed to his model girlfriend, Lacey Buchanan live on stage. The couple have a daughter, named Olive Pearl.

When it was announced a few months ago that Jake Owen would be coming back to Charleston, bringing Parmalee and The Cadillac Three, AEG Live held out a pair of tickets for GotCountryOnline.com. I have concert ticket buying anxiety so it was extremely relaxing that our tickets were taken care of. However, it felt like we had to wait twice as long as normal fans since we knew we were definitely going to the Days Of Gold Tour. I saw Jake for the first time when he headlined at the Freedom Aloft Festival in Simpsonville two years ago. Then I saw him at both the UGA and Charleston stops of the Night Train Tour last year.Yes Charleston, the stop where he ripped open his jeans during Jump. Thank goodness I won tickets through NASHFM96.9 to see that! I was overly excited to see Jake Owen for the fourth time, and headlining again. GotCountryOnline.com CEO and Founder (plus best boss ever) Stephanie Bear and I nixed the WEZL Tailgate Party and hung out with our good buddy Bill West at the NASHFM96.9 booth. Big things are happening and we can’t wait to help out! While at the booth we noticed across the coliseum entrance that Kickin’ 92.5 had Parmalee in their booth. Well we wanted them too! So Stephanie and I strutted over to the other station’s booth and snagged the boys. Here they are with the fine folks of NASH trying out Bill’s photobooth from his side job Bride’s First Dance. (Side note: If you need a DJ, he is the best. I had an absolute blast at the wedding he played at last month!) image Before we left the NASH booth to head into the show Bill hooked us up with meet & greet passes for The Cadillac Three. I have never seen Stephanie and I move so fast to get to a M&G. Since we were the end of the line we made sure to pass along our business cards and invite Jaren, Neil, and Kelby to do a Got Country Twittery Party. Stay tuned… image After the M&G we were guided back to our seats, which weren’t the best (but they were free). So we texted our seat numbers to Jake Owen in hopes of winning the side stage Tiki Seats. Unfortunately we were unsuccessful :-( The Cadillac Three was first on stage starting off the show with "I’m Southern." Before the next song “Back It Up” Jaren announced if you don’t like songs about girls and trucks, pack your shit up and leave. Don’t worry Jaren, you don’t have to worry about that here in The South! He talked about how he loved the Carolinas, the South for Lee Brice and Darius Rucker (who he says he’s smoked weed with) and the North for Eric Church. After a small guitar issue they slowed it down and played us a love song. They finished out their set with their new single "Party Like You" and their first single "The South" (which was constantly sung the rest of the night). I was depressed when their set was over so soon. That’s the sucky thing about openers. 75% of the time they turn out to be so awesome and you just want them to stay. I’ll have to keep tabs on The Cadillac Three so I can make sure to catch their show and Jaren’s sweet dance moves if they come back around to Charleston.
Up next was Parmalee, our northern Carolina neighbors. I wish I could remember what they came out to but a few songs in they played "Back In The Day," asking the crowd who had a fake ID growing up, and who had one right that moment. “Don’t worry,” Matt said, “I won’t tell on you.” They played their new single "Close Your Eyes" about a first kiss, along with "Already Callin’ You Mine," "My Montgomery," "Day Drinkin’," and "Dance." When they launched into "Musta Had a Good Time" they also launched into a small medley of songs. Parmalee finished out their set with "Carolina" which was very fitting in the location and could have completely been sung by the crowd alone.
After Parmalee’s set I met up with my new friend Tyler who I keep up to date on concerts, ticket sale dates, and presales codes for some Fireball Whisky! We also ran into Neil of The Cadillac Three hanging out in the concession area and some crazy fan dressed up as a cow, complete with udders!
Here it is. The moment we’ve all been waiting for. Jake Owen. In Charleston. Headlining! We were so focused on the main stage that we were completely surprised when Jake popped up on a small stage in front of the sound booth belting out the words to "Days of Gold." Then he made the long haul to the main stage to start off the concert. FYI, this won’t be the only time he does it. Jake ended up in the crowd at least two more times. That man really doesn’t like to stand still and be confined to a stage.
It wasn’t long until he addressed his wardrobe malfunction here last year. I believe we were all hoping for a second one but he said he came prepared. Jake’s parents were even in the crowd with us, celebrating their 34th wedding anniversary.
Jake performed a range of songs from all 5 albums including "Yee Haw," "Eight Second Ride," "Don’t Think I Can’t Love You," "Anywhere With You," and "Alone With You.”When he performed "Pass a Beer" from the crowd response I realized that people must have missed the Endless Summer EP. Y’all need to go grab that! I was hoping to see his daughter Pearl when he performed “Beachin”. Have y’all seen her adorable Instagram videos? During “The One That Got Away” he brought a young kid named Parker up on stage and signed his cast. Then they walked around, playing the drums, the keys, and the guitar before Parker was returned to his dad. Jake brought out songwriter Scotty Emerick to sing a few he penned: "I Love This Bar" and "Weed With Willie." Have you heard Jake’s new single "What We Ain’t Got"? It’s emotional. It’s moving. It’s the truth. And performed live? It had me in tears. Jake ended the show by bringing both The Cadillac Three and Parmalee back out. They all sang along to "Barefoot Blue Jean Night." Then with a disclaimer of having extra undies, they launched into Van Halen’s Jump, requesting that the entire Coliseum jump during the chorus.
Having seen Jake Owen now four times, twice as an opener, I am so thrilled that he is headlining shows. If that party only lasted 20 or 30 minutes, depression would be high! Hell, I was sad when the 2 hour party ended! We could definitely use an all-day Jake Owen festival. Speaking off, I hope he continues to do those beach parties in Nashville. One day I’ll make it there. If the Days of Gold Tour is making a stop in your town and you don’t have tickets, you better grab them now!
I have been to a lot of concerts. A lot. I love them because nothing else comes close to seeing a performer and watching them interact with tens of thousands of people while they sing their songs and tell stories. I have seen some great shows, but Jake Owen at Mohegan Sun Arena in CT set a whole new precedent for the rest of my shows this summer. Jake Owen is the kind of guy who you can't help but smile when you look at him. His whole persona is warm and welcoming and this translated through to his performance. It is a rather small venue, so there really was no bad seat in the house, but he interacted with everyone. The people in the pit, the people he brought on stage, and the people sitting at the very top row in the section farthest back. He was unbelievably funny, genuine, and talented. He has an incredible voice that does not disappoint at a live show, and he was everywhere at once. Bouncing around the stage, walking through sections at all three levels in the arena, making jokes and talking with people in the audience. I won't lie, I got tickets to this show because I was a huge fan of the opening act, Frankie Ballard. I knew and loved Jake Owen and his music, but I didn't know many songs and thought this would make the night drag on. Not. Even. Close. I'm one of those people that always tries to leave before the last song to get back to my car because I hate sitting in traffic, especially in giant parking lots like the ones at venues. But he actually kept me at my seat until the house lights came back on and the stage crew came out to break down the set. This was by far the best show I have ever been to, and this was the first tour he headlined. I cannot wait to see him again and see how his sets evolve.
Jake Owen, Frankie Ballard, and The Cadillac 3... thank you for an amazing night.
Omg it was an awesome show!! We had a great time..We sat in the top balcony, had a great view, sound quality was badass. During one of his songs, he disappeared for a minute, lights were dim and he suddenly reappeared sitting right in front of us, he was singing to the women sitting directly in front of us!!! My boyfriend and I went bananas and he high-fived my boyfriend..Luckily I grabbed my phone in enough time to get a pic of Jake up close!!
It was an intimate type of concert.he sang some new songs not out yet, so we felt privileged. We're from Indialantic and went ALL the way to Canada to see Jake lol.
My boyfriend booked this trip to Niagra Falls for my birthday and Jakes concert tix was my bd present!!!
My bf was sick with a bad cold, so about halfway thru the show, he was feeling miserable, but he stuck it out cause he knows how much I love Jake. The only bad thing about this venue, was they didn't serve drinks and those Canadians were kinda boring...I think we were having the most fun, and the loudest!! I was the only person dancing and singing to almost every song...I HAD A BLAST !!!

Jake Owen takes country and makes it fun for the whole entire family. Jake Makes a real effort to involve the audience in his singing and even goes through practice and timing sessions with the audience before playing the song to make sure that everyone in the crowd is on the same page with him. If he notices that the crowd is a little behind in singing he will actually slow down along with the rest of the band to make sure that everyone in the crowd who wants to get involved can do so. He pauses between singing to encourage you to cheer and celebrate as much as you want and have a good time.
This really helps you feel like you are a part of the show itself and it really makes for a fun and entertaining experience. The crowd willingly sings the lyrics to the songs and cheers throughout and Jake rather than being annoyed by this will join in with them and have as much fun with the performance as they are.
OMG! What a show!!! 3 hours and 45 minutes of fun, personable entertainment! He should definitely win new entertainer of the year!
He comes out to have a good time and makes sure his audience does the same! If he is coming to your town, it would be a sin to miss his show!!!
And a shout out to his opening act, Larry Fleet! Look out country fans cuz he is going to make it BIG!!!
The show was great. Larry Fleet has one of the strongest voices I’ve herd in a long Time. Scotty Emmerick can play the guitar, and he’s hilarious. Jake Owen is a showman. Good music, and it felt very laid back and comfortable. Just sit back and enjoy the music. My Wife and I had a great time, and we had a blast. Thanks guys for a great evening.
Jake Owen was amazing! It was raining but he didn't care. He waited all day for this. He even made the track audience take their rain stuff off cuz he came here to get wet with us! Haha, Florida born and raised this was a concert worth waiting for. I hope he comes back soon!
Jake put on a fantastic show in Nashville on March 1 st with Charles Kelly. I loved the small setting and great cause! Jack sounds awesome live. I would certainly see him again at another venue in my town (I was visiting from Charlotte).
