Jasarevic’s love of music began from an early age, from him fixated to the radio to rooting through his sister’s cassette tape collection filled with American jazz, soul and funk. At the age of 13, he found himself glued to the computer as he started making beats from his bedroom and it wasn’t long before he discovered the power of the internet and the endless possibilities of file sharing.
Developing his skills over the years and the continual use of online sharing enabled Jasarevic to build a strong online presence extending as far as America.
Already with a label and agent on board, when Jasarevic landed in the US in 2008 he was welcomed with open arms as his career was set to take off. Professionally assuming the moniker Gramatik and releasing his debut album “Expedition 44” later that year filled with pure hip-hop beats it remained in Top 100 Chill Out charts for six months. In 2009 he signed with Pretty Lights Music, a label synonymous with the digital freedom philosophy and in 2012 released an EP simply titled “#digitalfreedom” a passionate subject for Gramatik who was able to build career through freedom of file-sharing.
Without specifically boxing himself into one genre, Gramtik has successfully transitioned through crossover as he experiments both with his production and live performances. With nominations for “Best Chill Out Artist” and “Best Chill Out Track” at 2010 and 2012’s Beatport Music Awards and a string of accolades, this musician has come a long way from his humble beginnings in Slovenia. Racking up over 100,000 sales on Beatport and topping charts on HypeMachine has guaranteed Gramatik’s position as a top class producer.

BRING ON THE FUNK. Gramatik live is something you don't want to miss! I've seen him twice in the past two years, once at Camp Bisco in New York in 2012, the other with Bassnectar in Montreal in 2013 (what a killer show!!!). He literally exceeds my expectations every time, not to mention he's a really chill and down to earth dude, a couple of my friends have met him. The level of energy at this shows is always extremely high, everyone's downright jamming and having an awesome time. He'll play some older stuff from Street Bangerz, and some newer stuff too. I remember he opened with "Hit That Jive" in Montreal and the entire venue went from dead to instantly animated and dancing around in the flip of a switch. As a producer, he is ridiculously versatile, and extremely talented. He makes anything from electro house, to hip-hop, to funk, to some heavy bass, and manages to perfectly blend multiple genres of music into one song. He is literally a magician, I don't know how he does it. I haven't seen him this year yet though I am sincerely hoping I get to, I would see him another time live without any hesitation. Seeing him play with Griz would be a dream come true!
Denis Jasarevic, better known for his stage name Gramatik is a Slovenian genre hopping artist who has one of the most unpredictable and immersive live shows on the electro/dance circuit. Bringing in genres including hip-hop, glitch and dub step, the audience are never entirely sure as to what they are going to experience from one gig to another yet this sense of uncertainty has seen Denis sell out venues globally.
A huge lighting display begins the show as the crowd roar in anticipation before the man himself takes to the decks as everything goes dark apart from the ominous glow of the luminous letter 'G'. Bringing the funk tonight, he drops 'I'm Doin' My Thang' and 'Break Loose' as one slick piece of extended dance that keeps the crowd jumping in time with the beats.
The hip hop influences are really apparent on 'Dungeon Sound' as the deep bass echoes around the venue and shakes the ground as he encourages the crowd to get low. They remain active throughout the show and by the final explosions of light in time with the fragmented 'Illusion of Choice' they have been successfully transported to Gramatik's weird and wonderful world.
Not what I was expecting...I love 99% of his music.. Or so I thought till I saw him live. Maybe it's just his lastest stuff that I don't favor, a bad night, or something I can't even perceive. When he played his funky shit, including the Grizmatik songs, I was thrilled... But there was only a smattering of that. The rest was clubby and a bit of an embarrassment with the clashing beats struggling through one song after another. Because I love this artist so much I would see him again if he played close to home..I however will not be traveling to go see him anytime soon.
Live music is my life blood..... And this show was one of, if not THE best I've ever been to. I love Gramatik, but even still, never allow myself to go into a show expecting something particular.... This show blew me away and humbled me to an extreme. The production was mind bending, the music was an actual journey through so many different Gramatik sounds - culminating in all out eargasm. I was giddy, I never wanted it to end. EVEN when they had sound troubles for a second, they delivered off the cuff acoustic type WOW. I'll never miss another show.
Gramatik puts on an incredible show!! I have mad respect for Gramatik as an artist and producer. The show had a great mix of known songs, remixes, and new material. They gave us like an additional hour of music and it was amazing! Their video production is pretty insane, very trippy :)
When you combine the extreme funk, with the body blows of the bass, and the live musical skills of live keyboards, guitars, etc., well, it just doesn't get much better than this! Highly recommended!!
Absolutely INCREDIBLE show. Balkan Bump and Haywyre preceded Gramatik and did and PHENOMENAL job as well. Balkan Bump came out with his trumpet during Gramatik's set and it was absolutely epic. The entire show was just so much damn fun. You could tell Gramatik and just everyone there was super passionate about music and there was just so much energy the entire show.
Made it to the show at 9 pm in a small blizzard about the time we thought a couple more openers would be playing. Instead, we showed just in time for the whole place emptying. Sad we didn't get to catch any music cause I look forward to Gramatik every year. But we just went back to the house and had our own dance party, so still a great night.
Amazing show!
First time that I attend a Gramatik show, it has been playing for 1 hour and a half and it has been great fun!
Great rythms and super cool live guitar playing together.
Setting at Salle Metropole within Metropop Lausanne festival, super well organised.
I hope to see you live again!
My rate: 5/5
Absolutely a must see artist! This set at the Mythical Frames stage in TomorrowWorld was world class without a doubt. I've seen all of shows, this one was of best I've ever had the honor of being a watching. I will see Gramatik again any chance I get.
Great show, i really enjoyed the concert. Awesome beats and nice ambiance. The concert ended a little bit earlier then i expected but that didn't decreased the fun! The location was also nice, cool bars and pretty decorations.
