Chris Knight is one of those singer-songwriters who has been around for a very long time writing big country and western songs that wow audiences all over America. He takes his time on stage finding his bearings before beginning a song. Accompanied by his black acoustic guitar he launches in to “Ain’t Easy Being Me” which was quite a hit for this singer-songwriter about fifteen years ago. According to punters around me he still sings it exactly the same way that he did about fifteen years prior to this performance. The audience help him singing along throughout his whole set. Another big song is “Cry Lonely”, which is from the “Enough Rope” album, which is lyrically sounds like a quite a dark autobiographical song. It has the audience ever so quite, listening tentatively as Knight sings his heart out throughout these songs. He’s definitely a man of few words between the songs, it’s really not about the bantering with the crowd all that much for him, as he sports a baseball cap with the peak pretty low.
Chris Knight is such a skilled musician. His writing continuously makes you shake you nod your head and wish that you could write like him. He doesn't talk much between songs. He is very very shy. I met him after a show and asked him if he would like to come speak to my class as I am an English teacher and use his songs in my poetry unit. He shook his head and said something along the lines of, "There ain't no way in hell that I'm ever doin that." He did let me buy him a beer though...so I got that goin for me.
He was fantastic. Two and a half hours. One song after the next. Chris not a big talker. He is the real deal. Authentic voice. His farewell to audience “Thanks for not fighting “
It was a fabulous show! I can’t wait to see him play again. We got to meet him and he was wonderful and very gracious. The venue was great as well
