With talent recognised at a young age, Cornish began performing at the age of four starting with ballet, modern dance and jazz dancing before venturing down the acting route. Along with her siblings, they formed a girl group known as The Cornish Pasties aged seven and would perform for their family at gatherings. At nine, Cornish joined the cast of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s stage production of “Whistle down the Wind” but having a heart condition meant that whilst on day leave from the hospital she would spend it at rehearsals.
From there she joined the National Youth Theatre continuing with stage and at 15 she entered ITV’s talent show “Britain’s Best Pop Prodigy” going home with the top prize presented by Bee Gee, Robin Gibb. Once leaving school at 16 Cornish joined the prestigious performing arts institute, BRIT school whose alumni would include Adele, Amy Winehouse and Leona Lewis. At 17 Jessie joined pop girl group Soul Deep, however not feeling comfortable with the manufactured girl group status, she decided to go her own way.
In 2006, she signed a record deal with GUT Records but it wasn’t long before the label went bankrupt. Joining Sony/ATV with a publishing contract as a songwriter, she began penning tracks for other artists (including Miley Cyrus’ debut single “Party in the USA”) while continuing to work on her solo stuff and uploading content through YouTube. In 2008 Cornish caught the attention of Lava Records who fervently pursued her which eventually led to a joint venture with Universal Records, and thus the beginning of Jessie J’s path to stardom.
Although the writing process of her debut album began in 2008, “Who You Are” was released in 2011 which featured her first single “Do It like a Dude” hitting the UK charts at number two. Her follow up single “Price Tag” charted at number one in the UK and peaked at 23 in the US Billboard charts as Jessie J rapidly began making her way across the pond.
Caught up in the whirlwind of success, Jessie relentlessly promoted the album’s release touring across the world whilst garnering an unprecedented following. In 2012 Jessie shaved off all her hair on national television for BBC’s Children In Need helping to raise a record-breaking 75 million pounds for the charity event. Later that year she would join the BBC’s new talent show “The Voice” as a regular judge alongside Sir Tom Jones and Will.i.am.
In 2013 she released her second album “Alive” which peaked at number three on the UK album charts featuring the hit singles “Wild” and “It’s My Party”. The following year came album number three “Sweet Talker” with the lead single “Bang Bang” featuring Ariana Grande and Nicki Minaj debuting at number one in the UK and number three in the US, sending Jessie J into the stratosphere as she made her mark across the pond.
Within her career, Jessie has collaborated with a host of artists such as: James Morrison, Robin Thicke, Dizzee Rascal and David Guetta as well as playing: iTunes festival, V Festival, Glastonbury, The Big Chill and even took part in the 2012 London Olympic Games closing ceremony.
As well as winning over the hearts of audiences across the world, Jessie has amassed an incredible number of accolades including: six MOBO awards, the critic’s choice BRIT award, a Grammy nomination and to top that all off has achieved almost 15 million sales. On top of the world, there’s no stopping the tenacious, sassy and incredibly talented Jessie J.

Jessie J is probably most recognizable from the work that she’s done writing for artists like Chris Brown and Miley Cyrus, but she’s an amazing singer in her own right.
I saw her in person at Austin City Limits in Austin, Texas earlier this year and she blew us all away. The venue itself was great, and seats 2,700 while having everybody in the crowd feeling like they’re close to the stage. She’s got an amazing stage presence and her own songs are as catchy as anything that the artists she’s written for have ever put out.
She’s got a wonderful blend of R&B, pop, and electronic music that makes for easy listening and a guaranteed fun time. She’s got a wonderful talent for songwriting that makes itself apparent in every single one of her songs, which are all uniformly entertaining and hit the right notes at all the right times.
Even better, if you noticed her striking short hair, you might be even more impressed by the fact that she had it shaved off to raise a record $75 million for charity. If you like pop music at all, you owe it to yourself to catch this fantastic act in person.
Jessie J, a graduate of the prestigious Brit school has become an internationally recognised singer with her pop/dance music and powerful vocal. When watching the performer live you get a sense of the passion she obtains for singing and playing live.
Supported by her own backing band, she tears into a setlist of her energetic dance inspired pop music with tracks such as 'Domino' and 'Sexy Lady'. She performs elaborate dance routines with her stage troupe yet manages to hit every note with ease and never once appears out of breath. She clearly learnt a lot about vocal control at Brit School and she is able to manipulate her voice to reach a variety of notes and freestyle with ease.
Often adding new outros and melodies to older tracks such as 'Who You Are' it is no secret that Jessie enjoys showing off her talent. Having a selection of British hit singles such as 'Price Tag', Jessie conducts huge singalongs before performing new international hit 'Bang Bang' which the audience go wild for. A charismatic singer who visibly enjoys what she does and this good feeling resonates to her audience.
Last week I had the pleasure of seeing my all time favourite singer, Jessie J, perform live in Liverpool. I have been a heartbeat for two years now, so it was a dream come true! It was my first ever live concert, and trust me, I was not disappointed! Her vocals were out of this world, she connected and interacted with the audience, she was funny, and extremely inspirational! That whole night I just stared at her in awe, and I felt so happy and free from the rest of the world. She put all her heart into her show, despite being tired. I am so excited to see her live again, and I really hope that it’s soon! To anyone reading this, if you’re thinking about going to see Jessie J live, I would definitely recommend it! You will be in for an absolute treat!

I'm so glad I got to see Jessie J. What an amazing performer. Her energy on stage is superb! Funny thing is that she was sick. She did not sound sick at all. Her voice was perfect, you could never hear any sort of her being sick when she sang at all! I hope to see her perform at a larger venue one day.
Inspirational, soul-moving, hip-busting. A night to remember. Shes got the vocals to keep you on your toes all night long. I would see her a million times over. She gave me goosebumps and she is a very humble straight talking independent power woman.
One of the best shows I have attended. She sang her face off (as she promised), had fun on the stage, and made each moment engaging and enjoyable. Have enjoyed her music and artistry for over a decade and will clearly be attending more concerts.
