Weedeater are a wild breed of music with their sludge metal music, from North Carolina. They have been together long enough to release four full-length albums, with their most recent album having just come out last month. Tonight it is all about their biggest songs and their biggest songs only, who would know anyway, as I’m pretty sure the horde of punters literally took the band name quite literally, as they probably had it for the dinner before they came to the show this evening. It’s hard to describe their music as it is so loose and rough – sludgy might just be the perfect word for it. Their opening song is called “Hammerhandle” which induces many mosh pits but definitely the slowest mosh pits I’ve ever seen with everyone looking a little bit worse for wear, one member of the audience even stumbles onto the stage, managing to keep his drink in hand, and then wanders around it for a little bit before falling off.
Weedeater never disappoint. There were three openers, I only caught the last one -- Telekinetic Yeti. They really got the crowd going with some groovy, heavy stoner doom type jams. Weedeater was as tight as ever, with a new drummer and Dixie Dave's crazy antics. Highly recommend.
These fellas always produce, big thick high energy sludge, its fucking loud, its in your face, it is fun. A few flying PBR cans from audience but had an amazing time, Randy fn Blythe (sp?) Sat in for a song!!!!
If you doom, go see Weed Eater.
The weedeater show was as awesome as expected. The Ace Of Cups venue in Columbus Ohio is one of my favorites in town. The opening bands were killer, especially Black Wizard. We got pictures and handshakes with dave and shep also. Very good show
Seen them several times by this point as they constantly tour, and they never disappoint. Great live sound, and Dixie's antics are always entertaining. Go see them if you haven't, or even if you have.
Great show last night, they played an amazing set list. Can't wait to set them again. Syracuse is a great place to see shows. The Lost Horizon is a great venue to play.
