This was a great show, probably the best one-person show I've seen. She was on nonstop (except reading excerpts from short stories from her latest book/albums, Wyatt at the Coyote Place, which you could get for $20 at the venue) like a laserbeam, going over about 18 songs. Talk about intensity! About half of the songs were new, the remaining are standby from her solo albums, with only about 2-3 Throwing Muses songs. I would have paid easily 3 times what they charged....As to venue, it was my first time at the Swedish American Hall. I liked it. Acoustics was good, the atmosphere intimate (~100 people), though it took a bit used to sitting down listening to a concert (amped acoustic, but still rock) for me. My only complaint is that they need to soundproof the rear of the room, as you could hear the bartenders clanging their wares and slushing ice around. I would go back again, but next time sitting at the front.
Fabulous show at Exeter Phoenix, great mix of solo, Throwing Muses and 50 foot wave. Have seen Kristen before in Bristol acoustic set, this was so different , electric all the way! Exciting dynamic and goose bump moments. A great personal venue that allows you to connect with the music directly. Would definitely recommend catching another venue, have followed Kristen for over 30 years and she never disappoints, latest album is soooo great , looking forward to next tour !
Absolutely stunning as always, I really can't say enough good things. Amazing set, brand new throwing muses song from the album out next year. A completely flawless performance. On top of all that she's just so nice. She really deserves to be way more popular than she is. Can't wait for the muses album and hopefully tour.
Amazingly excellent live with such an impressive back catalogue to play from: Throwing Muses, solo, 50 Foot Wave and new material. And quite a lot of the audience back from the same show 2 nights ago. Well worth the 2000 km trip to attend. Very highly recommended.
Amazing beyond belief! She's a legend. Her voice is a whisp of wind, a growl and a purr. And she plays like she's tuned into a parallel universe. Love. And to think it's the first time I've seen her live since I started following her 20 years ago..
Fantstic, just her and her guitar then joined by a cello............Moody, atmospheric and hugely appreciated.
A hot night in London and Kristin cool, calm and collected.
Please come back very soon.
