Write your review of Mike Stern here...Mike Sterns concert in Stockholm featured some of the best jazz-fusion-musicians today, Bill Evans, former band member of Miles Davis Band, together with Mike Stern, Tom Kennedy, a bassist who played with Dave Weckl and the drummer Dennis Chambers, former member of Mahavishnu Orchestra. The music was composed by either Mike Stern or Bill Evans, the latter had the compositions "tit-for-tat" and "Forbidden Daffodils," which, in fact were better live than on the record "Dragonfly." In Mike Stern's reportoire there is a lot of music to choose from, and of course one of the more popular "Chromazone" were performed with uttermost precision and joyful improvisations. One of the pleasures listening to a band like this is the skills of the musicians which allows them to be playful (Tom Kennedy playing really advanced bass-loops with a big grin on his face,) and sometimes joking with each other, as when the drummer Chambers slowly changes the rhytm in one of the tunes and putting the other band members to test, which they of course passes. This band is amongst the best you can hear in the jazz-fusion-genre today!
First time for me catching the great Mike. Bonus: Dennis Chambers on the drums and Jimmy Haslip on the bass, whom I have wanted to see for years.
Mike is the humblest cutest superstar you'll meet. The concert was fantastic and I wish it had gone on forever. I am glad I went.
