A lot of country artists like to make people feel like they’re just like the people who listen to their records. Salt of the earth, working class folks who just so happen to know their way around a few guitar chords. While many of them aren’t that at all, Kevin Fowler is exactly that and then some.
His father introduced him to country music when he was a child, and he got into rock and roll during his teenage years, but at the age of twenty, he realised that he wanted to spend his life as a musician. One of his own on stage singing his heart out.
Fowler played the piano as a kid but when he hit twenty and realised his purpose in life, he immediately upped sticks from his native Amarillo and moved to Los Angeles, California, where he studied at the Guitar Institute of Technology. Once Fowler had mastered the basic chords he spent the rest of his time there learning advanced guitar techniques and writing his own songs. Once he finished his course he moved back to Texas, settling in Austin and spent the 1990’s playing for a number of Southern Rock acts. However, in 1998 Fowler quit rock music altogether to focus on his solo career in country music.
He formed his own band and released his debut album “Beer, Bait and Ammo” in 2000. Despite the fact he had no record contract to speak of, it would go on to sell 30’000 copies and its title track would become such a popular radio hit that country legend Mark Chesnutt would cover it in concert. As a result of this sudden exposure, Fowler signed to the indie label Equity Music in 2004, unfortunately, the label folded after he released a further two albums on the label. However, Fowler had already made such a name for himself that he was signed to Lyric Street Records in 2010, and that was the point that he started down the road to country stardom.
Ever since then, every one of his records has broke the top forty of the Billboard Country Album charts, with his 2014 effort “How Country Are Ya?” going straight in at number 9. A legend in his native Texas, few people are in touch with the average Joe like Kevin Fowler is, and for that reason, he comes highly recommended.

Kevin Fowler is very much your typical Texas Country singer, even with the cowboy hat to match. He has four singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts and has released five studio-based albums. Like many country music singers, his music style was always engrained into his family. His dad introduced him to the music throughout his life and he even said he went on to enjoy rock music in his early teenager years. He started out by playing the piano as a young kid but later learnt to play the guitar as well. Fowler signed with the Equity Music label and released two albums with them until the label went under in 2008. He went on to sign with Lyric Street Records in 2010 though, releasing his second single 'Pound sign', which is one that sticks out in my mind. Country music is a lot more popular in America I believe, but if I was into that genre I would definitely consider him one of my favourite Country performers, he has a lot of spirit and unexpected enthusiasm in his live performances and knows how to really get the crowd involved. A great singer and an all around talented man, worth a watch for any country fan.
Somewhat of a late bloomer on the country music scene, Kevin Fowler may have only taken to the stage in 2000 at the age of 34 yet since then he has made up for time with successful releases and a rapidly expanding fanbase. The Texan musician clearly enjoys nothing more than to sit onstage with his loyal musicians and serenade a crowd. He seems even more elated as the audience make themselves heard during the choruses of 'Best Mistake I Ever Made' and 'Long Line of Losers' and states that it is a truly special night that he is thankful to be sharing with the crowd.
Taking a variety of music from across the discography including his confident 'Best Of' compilation released just eight years into his career, he caters for the whole crowd and they remain onside throughout the show. He is a Southern gent dedicating a couple of tracks to the female patrons before offering the final singalong of 'Pound Sign' to the whole venue as means of gratitude.
This concert was awesome!!!! He sounds better in person! I want to see him again!
He gave a great performance. We absolutely had a great time. Kevin Fowler was absolutely entertaining, his entire band was. I will admit I was not a huge fan before but I am totally for sure now. I think he is a total package!!!
Kevin always puts on a great show. His interaction with the crowd keeps the show pumped and going. He’s one of my favorite live performers. It’s a show you definitely don’t want to miss.
