I've seen Good Charlotte over 100 times across the US, UK, Japan, and Canada. While some might consider that excessive, I can honestly say it was time well spent. GC shows are, above all else, a lot of fun.
You can expect to hear their hits, as well as a variety of songs from their five studio albums, though in recent years they've replaced early fan favorites, mostly from their self-titled album, with newer material. For the majority of concert goers attending a GC show, the entirety of the performance is spent dancing, singing, and jumping. So basically, for the most immersive experience, prepare to sweat.
Also you can expect to laugh. There is typically quite a bit of, what I like to refer to as, witty twin banter that takes place between brothers and frontmen Benji and Joel Madden. A Good Charlotte show is also a safe bet for families and younger fans, as there is usually little to no cursing or vulgarity.
Good Charlotte is currently on hiatus, but fear not, notable side projects from bassist Paul Thomas and drummer Dean Butterworth (The Strayed), Benji and Joel (The Madden Brothers), and, for the art fans, guitarist Billy Martin's comic book endeavor (Vitriol the Hunter) should keep fans of the talented quintet occupied for the time being.
If you are not currently a fan, I would suggest sampling each of the five releases: Good Charlotte, The Young and The Hopeless, The Chronicles of Life and Death, Good Morning Revival, and Cardiology, as they are all unique records and there is definitely something for everyone amongst their massive discography. In closing, to quote Benji "See you at the show!"
I won't lie, I'm not a GC fan and wasn't so hyped to see them live when I paid to see All Time Low. Apparently though, Charlotte seemed to be pretty much on form, going way beyond their modest opinion of 'good'.
Honestly, they gave a buzz which kicked off the rest of the show, having such an enigmatic and passionate stage presence and a wonderfully genuine friendship with the All Time Low band members (specifically Jack), which led them on perfectly.
Initially, I wouldn't have chosen them to introduce and support any of the bands I like, but remembering I liked that one song with Mikey Way in it ('Makeshift Love'), and after about 10 minutes in, I realised that this was perfect, and I couldn't have wished for anything more! Absolutely perfect!
It was amazing ive loved GC for years and have always idolized them i had wanted to see them for a long time. I grew up loving them and even when youth authority came out i still thought it was a pretty decent album. And it is. It grows on you after a while.
The support bands were awesome! And probably one of the best highlights pre good Charlotte was when everyone in the mosh sung along to in the end by linkin park. <3 i never expected GC to be as connected with the audience as they were. I loved it so much.
Brilliant show. Doors opened at 6pm and Good Charlotte were not on until 9.15 but were worth the wait. 2 acts before them were pretty good, however Milk Teeth were awful, aggresive towards the crowd, couldn’t decipher a single word and I left the hall til they had finished. Good charlotte were talkative, very engaging, nastalgic, sounded awesome and was so worth the 3 hr drive. Would love to see them again if they come back in the future.
I really loved the show. Good Charlotte made a lot of contact with the fans and involved them so well in the show! They played all of my favorite songs. They also did a really good job at finding other bands to tour with. Sleeping With Sirens, Issues, State Champs and Mallory Knox were amazing as well. Saw SWS for the 3th time and Issues + Mallory Knox for the 2nd time. Can't wait to see GC again!!
Fantastic show! it was such a relleif that they at times were singing off the cuff instead of off a set list with their songs. Sound and tone was awesome. Stage preasence was some of the best I have ever experience. I loved the fact they brought their fans into their act. That was extremely refreshing. I will only see them from now on fantastic show my freinds.
Good Charlotte was amazing! It was my first concert, but hell did they make me feel like it wasn't! They sang about ten songs, with an extra two thanks to Alex (All Time Low). Overall, they were freaking amazing! If anyone is debating going to a Good Charlotte concert; fucking go! You will DEFINITELY not regret it!
Last nights show at the 9:30 club was absolutely amazing. The VIP experience was incredible and something ill keep close to my heart forever. The guys put on a kick ass show just like I expected them too. Can't wait to see them again. Much love to my favorite band.
