Lovely concert at a small-ish bar down in Texas last night!
The band played a few low-tempo, long-form jams from across their discography interspersed with a couple of their harder Rock songs to keep things interesting, and the Vocalist had a few amusing monologues to keep things light between all the heavy Psychedelic sounds.
Not quite as exciting a show as the last time I saw them, when they played a lot more of their head-bangers, but I think they we're trying to go along with the vibes of the respective opening bands at each concert. Either way, All Them Witches is one of my favorite bands and I would absolutely see them again and again if I get the chance.
Also, I got to chat a bit with the guys after the concert and they are absolutely Salt-of-the-Earth dudes, which really solidifies their musical themes in my mind.
I highly doubt you could pick a better band to see for less than the price of a vinyl record.
Here's a band I've wanted to see in concert ever since discovering their first album 'Our Mother Electricity'.
As expected, ATW did not disappoint and covered the high points from both their studio releases such as 'Mountain', 'Elk Blood Heart' and 'Death of Coyote Woman'.
For me, what sets ATW apart are their Southern gothic lyrics and use of soft/loud music passages. Great players, to be sure.
Got to meet some of the band before and after the show. Super nice Tennessee gentlemen. Asked about future plans and I was told that new material was in the works.
A must-see band IMHO that will be featured at the prestigious SBSX event this year.
Went to see the band play at Le Ritz rock bar in Montreal on Sunday, March 12. Easily purchased four tickets in January, I believe and they arrived in plenty of time. I will buy tickets via Songkick again. Entered the venue and immediately purchased new cd 'Sleeping Through the War'. Then my friend Bob and I (Gord) bumped into Parker, bassist and lead singer who was checking out details. He was great, we all introduced ourselves. I've been a fan for over a year now. They are high up on the list of favorite bands to see. I will see them again. I do hope they turn up at the Ottawa Bluesfest someday on their busy schedule.
The band was great! They have an excellent sound, and are very dynamic in their playing.
Their opening band The Ghost Wolves sucked ass though. It was all attitude and no skill.
Also, the locale (Revolver), is not the ideal place to go to a concert. Being stuffed into a narrow basement and not even being able to see the stage is not my idea of a good locale.
Still. I was able to close my eyes and enjoy the concert on a purely audio level due to the excellent musicianship on display.
Go see All Them Witches if you get the chance.
These guys know their stuff!
Was this the most beautiful sonic experience i had heard in a long time? Yes it probably was. If you thought it was impossible, or frankly just unwise, to fuse blues, country and stoner/space rock with a Sabbath-esque tinge of 80's British heavy metal then All Them Witches are here to prove you wrong! I dare anyone to go see them and not get lost in the groove. If they are in your vicinity (basically anywhere on planet earth) then go experience their beautifully crafted songs for yourself. You will not be disappointed
Hello! Where to begin…All Them Witches live is where it is at! I have seen them once at the Aggie theater in Fort Collins and three nights recently at the Bluebird Theater down in Denver.
Go go go see Them when they come near your city. If you are open , you will be so entertained and perhaps enchanted by their tones and vibe and above all their SONG/MUSIC. Thank you Robbie, Ben, Parks, and Alan. For all the magic had and the magic to come. I wish peace and prosperity to all!
Incredible performance in a wonderful venue. The band approach their performance with an obvious emphasis on atmosphere - with minimal but very effective stage lights, backdrops and a wonderfully loud and multi-layered sound. It suits their music perfectly. And KOKO is just the best venue for intimate performances - the multiple levels allowing for much more opportunity for a good view than any other venue. I had a wonderful night.
Last night's show in Louisville at Zanzabar was pretty freaking great. Relatively small venue with a pretty decent sound system. Both bands sounded great. ATW played an awesome set with a pretty healthy mix of old and new. And I think they played 3 or 4 songs for their encore. It was a blast. Two of the four people we were with hadn't really heard much of ATW and I'd have to say they're converts now!
