This was my first time seeing Plini, and it was, hands down, the best show I've ever seen.
The music was incredible, as anyone would expect, but the delivery was just as moving. They stuck pretty closely to his recordings but added in some improvised phrases, and Plini and his second guitarist fluidly traded between lead phrases as well. Both guitarists played incredibly tightly with each other in harmonized sections with on-stage communication for queues that is always exciting to see between performers.
The bassist and drummer were just as impressive, each having several places in the show during which they could showcase their skills. They both had excellent tone and rhythm, and they communicated just as effectively with both guitarists, using plenty of head nods and eye contact.
The venue, Voltage Lounge in Philadelphia, was intimate and close-knit, and the community was supportive as well as respectful. The lights were excellently queued with the music to make for an even more exciting night.
This was the first day of this tour, and I'm certainly going to be buying tickets for the last day of the tour, at the Knitting Factory in Brooklyn. If you haven't seen Plini (or if you have), do yourself a favor and go see him! This brand of show will never cease to be incredible.
First headline world tour "Handmade Cities" from Plini took in O2 Academy3 in Birmingham on March 17 2017. The 200 capacity room with great sound ia a refreshing change to some over amplified venues, allowing us to hear and appreciate every detail. Plini's melodic Ozzie instrumental guitar rock is at the Jazz fusion end of Djent metal. The talent of Plini is matched by his impeccable band of Try Wright, Jake Howsam Lowe and Simon Grove. Unlike many bands of this genre Plini departed from the album scores to include solos and improv with not only his band but also the support bands, making for a really special evening that drew in the audience for what you feel is the beginning of a huge career for this young composer and performer.
Saw Plini boy play at the Corner Hotel (Richmond) with David Maxim Micic and Mestis. David Maxim Micic's performance was an undeniably moving fiesta of sounds and colours to entertain and delight, and Mestis was straight to the point with his powerful melodic polyrhythmic djenting. One set couldn't do Plini's talent justice, but the attempt was a miracle of diverse guitar techniques coupled with dense riffs in between percussive elements and samples and subtle use of synth to knock your socks off. Big thanks to the sound guy Lee, my tinnitus was kept at bay
Dope show. Nick Jonhston was the first opener, and he was alright. He has some impressive guitar work, but his songs that he was playing seemed more like a guitar showcase and less of a song.
David Maxim Micic was next, and his set was incredible. He played 5 songs and it was start to end awesome.
Plini came on, and his set was incredible. The energy was really high, and there was a lot of crowd surfing during some of the highlights. He brought on the two openers at the end of his set to jam out. Great venue for this concert!
This was one of the best shows I've ever been to - Plini shredded, and his friends did too. I was thrilled to see some guitar battles at the end of the show - haven't seen something like that in far too long. Can't wait for him to come headlining again!
SHOW WAS UBER FANTASTIC
In the BELLY of a Boat these guy made me Happy and the crowd crazy!
Knew that it will be an unforgottable encounter.
Lights though should have been designed so that it does not burn my retina out... :)
Absolutely splendid! Inimitable experience standing and absorbing every single note of the diverse Tesseract's catalog of four great albums. Stunned in most positive sense. Strongly advise to every single fan of the band
10/10 performance. I loved the show: The combination of lights, the quality of sound, and the synchronized guitars all blew me away. I will definitely buy another ticket if he comes back with a new album.
This was one of the most fun, positive-energy shows I've been to in a really long time. Highly recommended. Definitely going to see them again next time their in town :D
