Emma Louise shot into the limelight this year with “Jungle”, the first single from her debut album, “Full Hearts and Empty Rooms.” The song was remixed by Wankelmut to become “My Head is a Jungle” and was played on almost every radio station in the country, quickly becoming a summer anthem for 2014. With a voice that reminds you of Gabrielle Aplin, it would be easy for Emma Louise to release an album filled with safe, dreamy ballads; but this is not the case, and her unique style and creativity are what makes Emma Louise’s album stand out, and the same is true of her concerts. Emma Louise seems to prefer intimate venues to larger arenas, and this suits her style really well. Favouring simple stage layouts, she starts with “Cages”, which really showcases the unique range and quality of her voice, before moving onto “Jungle”, a crowd favourite. Going to an Emma Louise concert is not a crazy experience, but her music does more than get people on their feet; her voice lets you escape from life, even if just for a little while. In short, watching Emma Louise perform live was truly unlike anything I’d previously experienced, and something I very much hope to repeat!
