Celebrated jazz harpist and vocalist Tara Minton returns to Melbourne to present her new album, The Devil Invites You To Dance. Written in México City in July 2023, the suite traces a soul’s journey through an underworld of shadows and desire. Drawing on Aztec mythology and Latin American dance traditions, Tara and her band lead listeners through a dark, joyous exploration of what it means to be human. Beyond “should” and “shouldn’t” lies the place where we finally meet ourselves.

Born in Melbourne and now based in London, Tara Minton is a harpist, vocalist and composer proudly endorsed by Les Harpes Camac. She holds a master’s degree in jazz performance from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and is in high demand both as a harpist and singer. Tara has worked with artists including Björk, Eska, Stan Sulzmann, Geoff Gascoyne, Emma Rawicz, Alice Zawadzki, Trish Clowes, Faris Ishaq, the Ronnie Scott’s All Stars, Opera North, The Royal Ballet and the Australian World Orchestra.

In July 2023, supported by the Asociación Latinoamericana del Arpa, Tara spent two weeks in Coyoacán composing the music for The Devil Invites You To Dance. The work fuses Latin American and British jazz influences, exploring Mexican mythology, joy, self-expression and desire. Tara returned to México City in October 2025 to present the suite in concert at Foro del Tejedor. The album is scheduled for release in 2026.
